Short notice but here it is.
10-22-11 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. “ Operation Prop” Event at John Bell Williams Airport in Raymond Ms.
Greetings,
Let’s Go Flying!!!
We are pleased to announce our second Operation P.R.O.P. event. P.R.O.P is an acronym for People Reaching Outrageous Potential. This event is intended to introduce people with disabilities to employment and recreational opportunities they may not realize exist. Equally important is the mission of providing rewarding opportunities that are “All Inclusive”. Coming together as People First helps us to realize that as my late dad used to say, “There’s not a nickels worth of difference in any of us”. Hinds Community College will be our host as we introduce people with disabilities to Hinds on-field opportunities for classes leading to employment as pilots, aircraft mechanics and even air traffic controllers.
This is a day for FUN. We will have an exhibition by Jackson’s own wheel chair basketball team, “The Rollin Tigers”. Guests will be able to hop in a sports chair and shoot some hoops. If basketball doesn’t suit your fancy how about wheel chair fencing? I bet you didn’t know our area boasts a world renowned wheel chair fencing team and they will be there to share the sport they so enjoy. O.K., so if a person without the use of their legs can literally learn to fly an airplane, play basketball or fence why not have a painting (art) class for folks with little use of their arms and or hands? Let’s even send them home with some art supplies in hopes they might become a famous artist! Done!
If we haven’t caught your interest yet, surely this will. If anyone with any disability has the desire to experience the ABSOLUTE JOY of Flight, this day is for you. We will have volunteer pilots, aircraft and ground crew to lift your spirits like never before. At our last P.R.O.P. event we flew 163 people with all types of disabilities from developmental disabilities to the most challenging physical disabilities and everyone had a BLAST. At the end of the day we were not just people with disabilities, volunteers, and pilots. We were PEOPLE experiencing a great day together learning and challenging ourselves all while having a Great time TOGETHER.
Can it get any better? Yes. Thanks to our MAIN sponsor Davis Aviation, along with St. Dominic Hospital, Hinds Community College, and Executive Mortgage Corporation of Mississippi there is absolutely NO CHARGE to anyone plus lunch is provided.
While all folks with disabilities are invited please help us get the word out to our Wounded Warriors about this event. We are working and meeting with the Mississippi Army and Air National Guards to reach out to present and past members of the military or their family members with any type of disability.
If you know of any pilots, individuals or businesses interested in participating in this event or assisting to make opportunities like this available in other locations please contact me on my cell 601-624-4400 or Linwood@emcms.com. (Operation P.R.O.P.) Let’s truly be “People Reaching Outrageous Potential”

Update: 10/18/2011 Saturday’s weather forecast is BEAUTIFUL. We are wanting to estimate attendance so we request anyone planning to come out email the address at the end of this email or call. If you or a family member have any type of disability and wish to fly Saturday an e-mail or call will RSVP your flight.
