If a felt bag and some string was a criteria, I'd be all over crown. Then only thing Canada's gotten right in the past 20 years was pam anderson.

Not all Pappy Van Winkles are $300 a bottle. It just depends on how old it is. Some of the newer stuff is more like $60 -$70 a bottle. (which is still too high) They keep it in stock at Busters in Memphis. I've ordered a glass as an after dinner drink before and it was good, but it wasn't good enough for me to justify spending that kind of cash for a bottle.
Has anyone had Prichards before? I'm not sure you can get it outside of Tennessee. It's a small distillery. Pretty good stuff though.
While I enjoy a good glass of bourbon I honestly can't tell a difference between a $30 bottle and a $100 bottle. Kind of like wine. I can definitely tell a difference between a $5 bottle and a $30 bottle, but I call bullsh!t on anyone who claims they can tell a difference between a $30 bottle and a $100 bottle. Is there really a difference in taste that makes it worth 3 times as much? I don't think so.

Actually price has nothing to do with taste. It has to do with the size of batches, quality of grains and ingredients. It just so happens that the more quality and care that go into distilling means the taste is better and the price goes up. Quality = better taste = higher price.

I understand that price doesn't have anything to do with taste, I was just making the point that most bottles of bourbon (or wine) that cost $100+, do not taste any better than a $30-$40 bottle. They may have better ingredients, etc, but at a certain point it stops making a difference in taste. I understand some people just like to show off how much money they have though. I know a couple people who drink really expensive wine and bourbon and they are quick to tell you how expensive it is. I guarantee that they couldn't pick out which wine/bourbon they were bragging about in a blind taste test.
