Ok, This will be the fourth season and I've had to send it back to benelli twice. It needs to go back again because the pads in the stock always fall out but new stocks are on back order so it will be maybe more than 2 months. Go with a browning or beretta

had enough trouble with the barrell falling off the SBE (twice in 2 1/2 months) figured it wasn't meant for me to own one. heres my opinion:
#1 beretta.. not one of those 500 walmart knockoffs

#2 SX3

#3 browning

good luck with your purchase.. hope the SBE2 is far greater than the SBE.

JMO- I have a couple of hunting buddies that all shoot SBE's and all have issues. Hanging up is the most common problem and shooting low brass shells along with the ones mentioned above. I laugh every time we hunt together because they are cussing while I'm pumping away. They have to keep up with the Jones's so no matter how bad it gets they still shoot it. Save your money and get a Remington 870, I use mine as a paddle, push stick, walking stick, etc.... and clean it twice a year with no issues.

Been shooting a SBE since Christmas 1995 and I've never had a problem with it other than the low-brass shell issue that is fairly well-known. Got a new SBE II a couple of years ago and love it just as much. Keep the new one with the folks in MS and keep the old one here in VA. Both get a lot of use and, as I said, I've never had a problem with either one.

Now, you do need to keep it clean or it will jam up on you, but cleaning it once every two weeks or so during the season isn't something that I mind doing.

+1 I have had my SBE I for almost 15 years and have never had to send it back to Benelli. Friend of mine has had his SBE II for about a year or two now. He has already sent it back once and is about to send it back again. not sure what isues he is having with his, but for the money I would find a good SBE or SBE I.

I've had an SBE II for about four years now I think. It is hands down the best pointing gun I have ever owned. I shoot it better than any gun I have shot. It is easy to take apart and clean, and you really don't have to do that very often, I clean mine about once a year.

The only real complaint I have is that it kicks like a mule. Hunting a more than two days in a row with 3" magnums and your shoulder will hate you. 3.5" and your shoulder will need the power of healing only doctors and alcohol can provide.

All that said, I still love m SBE II and wouldn't trade it for anything.

Simple answer...there's better guns out there for less money. SX2/SX3, 390, extrema2, browning gold/silver, BPS, 870, and of course my favorite for waterfowl, the Auto-5 mag-12.
you did put in the plug, right?
