5 felonies, he should not have had the oppertunity to shoot the officer, he should have been spending time with his boyfriend/cellmate

I hate that! I've met some fine families from the Anniston area during the years I used to vacation in Destin.

I live in Anniston, has been a pretty somber time around here. There has been talk about opening up a 'nuisance democrat' season on that side of town. Was pretty touching watching the procession they had the other day. Thousands of people were lining the streets.

The procession was about 30 miles long. We saw it all the way from Noccalula Mountain on up to 18th st in Aniston. When ever they let the season in let me know I'll thin a few out.

Where did the path that led Russell to murder Sollohub start? Did it start when we failed him as a 5 year old, as a 6 year old? Most felons who end up in jail as adults were failing school by 3rd grade. Could there have been a different path (and a different outcome to yesterday) if we'd spent the money on hope and literacy projects 15 years ago? Creating alternate options to gang membership and drug dealing as a livelihood. It would have been a LOT less money than we're going to have to spend now to keep Russell incarcerated.
I agree with you, that "austerity" cuts are going to backfire on our society - yesterday being a case in point. But as long as the uber rich can afford their own security detail, they'll still fight tooth and nail to preserve their tax loop holes and let the poor "just eat cake if they don't have bread"! "
If any of you know Annie tell her I said she is IGNORANT!! I am sick and tired of people blaming someone else either (rich, white, affluent, etc., etc.) Noone made the career criminal kill Officer Sollohub. Everyone who lives in this great country has a choice. If you choose to be a career criminal you will get no sympathy from me. I had plenty of kids from Vicksburg that came up from poor white and black families that chose to study and/or assert themselves and become something. Our current judicial system is not working. I don't believe we should hang someone for something stupid they have done for their first time but enough is enough. Maybe a 3 strike system, 3 felonies and your gone to get judged by the Maker. I don't want to pay for them for 70 years.
