What did the people not like about him? I don't know anything about him, but always hear that he does a good job with the Appropriations Committee.

And elected one of the worst, most unqualified, dumbest, and rudest individuals I have ever had the displeasure of knowing or doing business with.
OP tell me what Doug Davis did that was so bad considering the economic environment? Please, I am not challenging you, just asking because I do not know. I know he cut the education budget along with other budgets when more or less forced to balance the budget.

The education folks are responsible for the Davis loss. His solution for a balanced budget was to make cuts in teachers' retirement. That didn't fly.
Re: Doug Davis, the people have spoken.
what pissed the desoto county folks off was that he supposely cut the education fund and moved that money to

Looks like Babour was pushing for the museums and Davis was just the head of the Senate Appropriations Committee that was cutting the education funding. Appears that the Senate as a whole and Barbour wanted spending cut by $77 million and they cut $20 million from education. Article came out March 31....wonder if Barbour's push for the museums had anything to do with helping his southern white image in lieu of the possible presidential campaign?
