12-09-01 Duck Report

Postby magnum » Sun Dec 09, 2001 2:21 pm

North Delta
Flooded Rice
2 Hunters
6 Mallards (4 Greenheads, 2 Suzies)
Not as many birds flying as yesterday
We killed nearly every duck that looked at our spread(there were not many birds working our field)
Started off kinda slow, but picked up a little as the sun came out
A beautiful day- and a great way to spend it...

Damn! I hate to brag, but:
SATURDAY, 2 hunters, 4 greenheads, 2 suzies, two green-wings, two wood ducks. (my brother shot the suzies, hehehe) It was awesome watching the teal work, I called them in and my brother almost sh*t his pants. This is his first year to duck hunt after me asking him to go for the last 10 years. We were hunting timber in NW MS. There were several good flocks that worked the trees after the rain left.

SUNDAY, 2 hunters, 6 greenheads, 2 suzies, 2 gadwalls. We got our last greenhead after 8:40, and I told little brother lets go and try to make church, but he was hooked and convinced me to stay until he was satisfied there were no good flocks working. We saw less birds than the day before, but worked the flights the RIGHT way.

By the way, we don't use ROBOS, and the guy that was set up when we got there had one. He only shot a couple of times and had to sit there and watch the birds land in our decoys. He called good and let the birds work, or we wouldn't have had such a good day, but we stoled alot of the birds away from him that came in to see his ROBO, but spooked when they got close enough.

I am glad to see all this water now, I think we will have enough for the rest of the season.
