I heard one in my back yard over the weekend. I hear them every year in early summer. It is a cuckoo I believe. I tried to get a pic of one but couldn't ever find it up in the tree.
Anyone else know much about these birds?

This is the time of year i really notice them because they feast on our catalpa worms. They are Yellow-billed Cuckoo's, and are really smart birds. They sit still on the limb until you flush them, then they are gone. Unless you see him land, then you probably will never spot him until he takes off again. I spent many hours protecting my dads catalpa worms with the 410 as a kid.

Had one in the trees by my lake house the weekend. 1st time I've ever seen on..hear them all the time. Very cool!

I usually start hearing them during the last couple of weeks of turkey season.

they will put a hurtin on some catalpa worms....better watch out
