QUESTION ABOUT TIRES

Postby HARLEY » Fri Dec 07, 2001 3:28 pm

Just bought a new polaris 500 H.O., was wondering if anyone had any experience with aftermarket tires such as Vampires, or Outlaw type tread patterns? Dont know how auotomatic transmission will react to that much traction!!!

QUESTION ABOUT TIRES

I just purchased some Titan 27 inch tires. They are 580 something. They are awesome. I had some super swampers before but these seem to sling the mud off better. I run the same size all around but I also have a honda 450 shift. You may have to run a size smaller on the front for a automatic. They are also narrow so they don't sling as much on you. They ran about $360, good luck.

QUESTION ABOUT TIRES

Thanks for the info. going to be a hobby type project from now till next season. Talked the wife into a lift kit for christmas. Add the bigger tires later when I'm not spending all my extra money on duck hunting. Course if we dont get some cold weather that may come sooner than I think.

QUESTION ABOUT TIRES

I have a set of 26" vampires on my 450s. They are awesome. I've got the narrow ones on the front, and the wide ones on the back. I've seen people get the narrow ones all the way around, I wouldn't reccomend doing that, they sink up as bad as stock tires. I would highly reccomend getting the wide ones for the back, they float on the mud, and are the heart and soul of that set of tires. My 4 wheeler doesn't seem to have any problems turning them over either.

titan 589 are the tire but you better get them pretty narrow because my buddy has polaris 500 and has to wear a rainsuit to go hunting to keep mud off of him. the 500 has no mudflaps to keep mud off of you. the polaris is allergic to deep water also . the belt will slip and you can't move. so you probaly need a 27h-9w tire to keep you going and clean!! the highlifter co. makes several options for all 4 wheelers and atvs. need to see their deals before you buy something else.
