La. guys on the board, need some help!!!
Guys, I need some info. I bought this older model call for my brother a couple of months ago. The call was made in Lake Charles, La, I also have a Cajun Call also made in Lake Charles. My brother lost the
barrel on his call Saturday evening. Is the company that makes these calls still in business? I'm needing to find a barrel, either old or special made, for his call. His call is the smaller version, I'm trying to get a pic of it to put on the net. Thanks for any help you all can give me.

I have one that I lost part of the reed out of. It has a name on it I can't remember but I do know it has Lake Charles on it.

Is the barrel small or big? If's it's the smaller version, it's the Cajun Guide, and I would be interested in buying it from you. I'm mad cuz I spent $40 for it and he never got to use it. Here's a pic of my call, his is the smaller version.

Well let me see if I can help you out. This information is top secrete. It will cost you one duck hunt (I will be out of school and away from those kids during the Christmas break). The man you need to reach is Richard Harrell, he is the maker of Cajun Game Calls. The address is: 4317 Ashland Street, Lake Charles, La. 70605 His phone number is 337-477-4632. He and his wife are very nice and he will be able to fix you up. Jack

Thanks for the info laduck. If my duck hunting holes didn't look like oceans, it would be well worth the trip to come up and hunt. We've got some La. guys coming up Dec 26th and staying the whole week, might just make it a cajun affair.

Just got off the phone with Mr. Harrell, he has discontinued that model call due to the thin barrel cracking. He has gotten up in age and his son-in-law is making the calls now, but a little larger, like mine. I may order a new call if necessary. duckhuntalot, if the barrel is thin, I'll buy it from ya.

It's damn near identical to the call above, just smaller, 'bout the size of a Haydel DR-85.

Greenhead22, how old are your Cajun Calls. I have several around here, but they are all very old. They are so old that I can not see any numbers on any of them. Tell me about your call again and maybe I can match it up with something that I have around here. Jack

The calls I bought have the finisher reed in it, the black reed. I talked to Mr. Harrell the other night and he said they haven't used that finisher reed in years. I'm still waiting on a reply from the guy I bought the call from with a pic of the call to be exact.

Mine had the black reed in it. I lost the piece that holds the reed in place when you slide it into the barrel. If that is the way it's described.

Now I need the insert for the pictured call above. I lost the insert out of it during that 2 hr. pouring down rain we had saturday. I've put my barrel with my brothers insert and it doesn't sound right, the reed is too close to the mouthpiece.

I don't know why I even put the call on the lanyard since I got that RNT short barrel call last Thursday, man that call is sweet. It may convert you from using the Haydel's, it sure has done it to me. But all that rain and moisture this weekend has swelled the call up and I can't pull the insert out of the barrel, it's stuck in there really tight.
