Ford Super Duty F250 Engine?
Ford Super Duty F250 Engine?
What engine is the best in the F250 from 2000-2010? Any problems with the 6.0?

The 7.3 was a good engine, you don't want a 6.0 after the warranty is out!

7.3 is the most reliable but hard to find a low mileage one. The 6.0 has some stuff from www.bulletproofdiesel.com that solves all the 6.0 problems. I have not had a 6.4 but heard nothing but horror stories about it.. The 6.7 is a freaking beast!!

Find you a 2003 model 7.3L or a 2002 model 7.3L, but be make sure it's a 7.3L. 2003 was a combo year as 2003.25 was the first of the 6.0L engines. And people could order / buy a 2003 model truck with either the 7.3L or the 6.0L engine in it.

I have a 7.3L with about 212k miles on it...REALLY want a new 250 with the 6.7 but dang who can afford one! This broke nickle can't!
Re: Ford Super Duty F250 Engine?
I have a 96 with a 7.3 that has 242,000 miles on it. Just put a couple of thousand in it about 5000 miles ago. It is my every day driver and runs like a top. Cranks easy and runs real strong.
Re: Ford Super Duty F250 Engine?
I have a 2008 with the Job 2 6.4 motor. Had a recall on the radiator, but that's it. I'm pretty damn hard on a vehicle and I have been very pleased with it. I tuned my truck at 20k miles and now have 60k on the odometer. Runs like a scalded ape. Stay away from the 6.0. It's not a matter of if, but when it's gonna blow a head gasket. The 7.3 motor will last 500,000 miles, but the body and chassis won't. Plus, neither the 7.3 or the 6.0 has near power of the 6.4. The 6.7 will run you $60k. I'd go with a 2009-10 with a Job 2 or 3 6.4 motor if it was me. All the motor issues were worked out by then. Plus you can put a tuner & exhaust on it and have 500hp and 1,000ft/lb torque.

Chuck, I got mine tuned with dpf/cat del and running like a scalded ape is an understatement.

I got the sct livewire extreme 150 tune. Havent gone up to the custom tunes yet. What mileage are you seeing with yours?
Re: Ford Super Duty F250 Engine?
13 in town and 16-17 on the hwy with 37" tires. I have a pretty heavy right foot too. If I had to do it over again, I'd go with the H&S BlackMaxx or MiniMaxx, it has shift on the fly. The Spartan has been real good though. KEM makes good custom tunes that will work with your livewire. http://www.kemperformance.com/
