Bama storms

Postby HeKing » Wed Apr 27, 2011 9:27 pm

I know some of you boys on here are from Bama. Hope you guys are ok. I drove up to my parents today in NW bama. Hackelburg, AL is wiped out. I had to detour and go around. The video I've seen from all over the northern half of the state looks like a bomb has gone off. Keeps these folks in your prayers guys. They have a long road ahead in cleaning up and rebuilding.

It's pretty bad over here guys. There are 13 confirmed dead here in Walker county and 128 state wide. I hate to say it but I'm afraid that number will climb considerably as the day goes and searches get underway. I have friends in some of the worst hit areas. I've manged to get in touch with them and they are ok but what they described to me is absolutley horrible. One entire town, Phil Campbell, is gone. Things won't be the same around here for a long time to come. :(

We felt like we were in the middle of a war zone here in NE MS for over 24 hours, but we really dodged a bullet. After hearing all this terrible news this morning I feel so guilty for feeling inconvenienced and frustrated for having to listen to the tornado sirens and the weather for over a day. What we experienced here was nothing compared to what others have and are enduring. So thankful for the Lord's protection through those storms, and sending prayers for all those that have lost homes and friends and family. Sad sad day.

I got lucky.....real lucky. There were tornados both north and south of my home and we didn't get hit. It was real strange watching large pieces of debris fall from the sky knowing it came from a few miles away.

Union Grove and Bridgeport hit hard and thankfully two friends and their families are safe, but a mess down there they say. Here's a video of the big F4 that hit Tuscaloosa. About 3 or 4 minutes in you really get a look at how big it was. Estimated a half mile wide.

Yes, gutsy or stupid. Incredible footage. Can almost hear button holes being knited in the seat!

Guys, just got off work where had they sent us to help in Pleasant Grove. Total devastation, pray for these people they are going to need all the help they can get. Got sent to Biloxi and Gulfport after Katrina and this looks the same just not on as wide a scale. If your home was in the path of of this thing it wasn't there after it passed.

My parents live on Guntersville and this is the second time in two years they have been hit. The last one wiped them out, this one just side swiped them. They were home both times and lucky that it was not worse, especially the last time. They lost so many trees the last time that this time it is only wind damage and stuff that was blown into the house that caused problems. Biggest casualty was my duck boat, it ended up in the sun room of their neighbor's house two doors down the way.
