Need some advice>>>PLEASE!!
I've just started fishing in the marsh down here on the MS coast and I cannot for the life of me catch anything but dang catfish. Went out today and caught six catfish and a small crab. Today I used dead shrimp, plastic shrimp under cork, live cockahoe minnows and dead cockahoe minnows
. I was fishing about a 20-30ft hole and used a 1/4 oz on some and 1/8 oz on some rigs. I have no idea what to do. I'm going out tomorrow and thought I'd try some live shrimp. Anybody with any advice....PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't help you with that area--but the trout bite is ON at the Ponchartrain eastern bridges, swimbaits with jigheads.
you did put in the plug, right?

look for at least 70 degree water, relatively clean water, and tidal flow!! Check the paper and see what time the tides are. My brother and law and nephews caught a few nice fish Sat. Trout like clean water, and they are beginning to transition from the deeper holes to the spawning grounds. Reds and flounder will be caught in dirty water but you really need tide flow.

Hey Baykingfisher...bossman has a pad on the Jourdan river in "the kill"...we are thinking about taking a guys trip down there before long and I was wondering when would be the best here in the next few months? Would like to catch reds and specs...but just specs would do. We can run out into the bay and stuff. Any suggestions? Places in the bay to target(bridge pilings) and some bird watching house I've been told.

By June the fishing should be great!! really depends on the amount of rain we get between now and then. Some fish starting to be caught, and some flounder being stuck now!! Good thing about waiting until June is the water temp is a non factor. Let me know when you decide to come on down, Ill be glad to point you in the right direction.

sure great fishing will start happening soon, just really depends on the rain fall amount for catching them up the river. The fish will begin to transition back into the sound with the warmer weather. As far as fresh water fishing, the bream have been tearing it up pretty good. The size of your boat and when you actually make your trip will probably be the biggest factor on where you need to fish. Like I said, just let me know and Ill do my best to point you in the right direction. Im assuming the camp is in Jordan River Shores? Does it have a light? is it on a main canal? If so you may never need to leave the camp!! Here is my # if you have any other questions 228-216-4915,

Re: Need some advice>>>PLEASE!!
Sounds good. We have 2 fairly decent sized boats. The Whaler that is down there is big enough to get us out into the bay a good bit and my duck boat that I will be bringing will let me run out into the sound unless the wind is up pretty good. Are you saying that the reds and specks are in the river right now? I dont expect to fish the river, but run from the house out into the bay. The place is in some neighborhood with a bunch of Indian named streets. Its not on a main canal, but we can get to one and yes the peirs all have lights. I will hollar at you when we nail down a good weekend to go...but the later is better as far as the fishing goes???
