Just as an update, I went to the luncheon today and heard Mr. Halfacre speak and I can say that I wouldn't hesitate to use his services.country_20boy wrote:Agreed. That is why in my first post I recommended a licensed engineer that I know and trust.
To the original poster, PM me if you have any more detailed questions. I may be able to point you in the right direction if it is not too late.....
By coincidence, I just found out that Mr. Halfacre, whom I have never heard of until this post, will be speaking at a professional luncheon that I am supposed to attend next week.

He was going to do it on friday but is going to a CE so I had to move it to next week. Prices are not as bad as I expected.

Re: Home/Foundation inspection Madison MS
I have not gotten the report back yet but Mr. Halfacre called me on the way to my house to tell me he would be a little late. What suprised me was that I ordered a home inspection and a structural inspection and the cost was 620$. For all I know the house is level as can be but I wanted some assurance. He said that he was not going to charge me for the structural unless he thought it was necessary from the looks of the house. I dont think that there are that many people still around in that busisness that would try to save you money like it seems he is doing for me ( I was prepared to pay for the sturctural and told him that). Like I said I have not gotten the report back but seems to be a real ethical guy.

Just the home inspection is like 350 or 375 which aint bad. The other 300 is the structural inspection of the foundation and drainage of the property. I think it is worth it.

Structural Solutions!
They did my house before I bought it, I had to have some warranty foundation work done and it took them forever to come out and get the work done. Now, I need more foundation work done and so I called them because they had been there before. It took them a week to come out and look at the property and make an inspection, but it took me hounding them for 3 months to get their proposal.
To say the least, I won't be using them in the future. Next month, after giving this new french drain I installed time to dry out some of the soil under my house, I'm going to get some new quotes for foundation repair. So, if any of you know a good foundation company that will be looking for work in May, let me know.
Nobody owes you anything.

Peace of mind about your foundation is worth a lot more than $300. When you buy or sell a house, you will spend many times that on realtors, lawyers, and bankers and have little or nothing to show for it.bulldog ducker wrote:Just the home inspection is like 350 or 375 which aint bad.
