Actually, I will proudly pay for bait, especially when the fish get to hitting on the croakers and when shrimp are not easily caught via cast net. When fishing with a group of four out in the marsh a couple hundred shrimp are not often easily caught (and Im not going to waste precious fishing time pursuing them). Oh, by the way, when you make the local boy comments about bait you crack my booty up. I have been throwing a cast net since I was four years old, I will be 37 next week, so I may know a thing or two about casting for bait. I have caught plenty of fish over the years with bait caught from my own nets (Frankly, I dont have the time to throw as much and like the convience of buying bait for a big trip!!) My favorite style of fishing is topwater on the flats or plastics under the birds, not even live baiting.
Mark, we need to get together and fish; Im thinking by the end of April (if it doesnt rain to much) the fishing will be off the charts!!! Two summers ago we had some two man limits that averaged 3.5# a fish!! I know those fish are going to be back at the same spot!!
My brother n law has a small trawl as well, all the croakers you want!! Shrimp dont seem to come as easy. The kids like the bait catching with the trawl better than the fishing.

I think what Johnny is trying to say is he is fat and old and likes to tell old stories about fishing.

Come on down to the coast and have a good time. Like I said, you don't really need the boat. a boat that size isn't going to let you do a whole lot of things that you couldn't do by merely wading.

HEHEHE, lol, at least you didnt say ugly, haha!! Well, your right man, Im fat, one ice cream season away from 300#s, but I can loose the weight.... I just cant loose the age!!! I know I miss my boat, and I am pretty strapped down these days!! So, all you may get is me talking about the glory years!! lol. Really, Im just waiting for all the folks Ive carried fishing over the years to reciprocate. ( Hint: Alex)

I guess I kinda deserved it for the gay jokes. Quick question, are you and Alex still headed to the "All Gay" fishing Rodeo next month, he told me he picked out a fabulous room for you'll to stay in.... I really couldn't listen to anymore because I started puking!!

There is an additonal bennefit to live shrimp.. If the fish aint biting you can always go home and have a shrinp boil.. :D

Oh and we have frozen live shrimp and thawed them out for the next trip..

THAT was my intention...not ta hurt y'alls little feelers or get y'alls little girl panties in a wad. The kids have the right idea...trawlings way cool, as long as the beer and Mountain Dews are COLD. April never treated me too good...think the salinity levels would get screwed up by the rain water draining out the Pascagoula River. The BEST for ME was October November...anytime the breeze had an N in it...and, YES...I have eatin' bait a few times. Try night fishing the lighted piers with plastics at night...a good time fo sho. Let me throw this out there for Chad...take the Ship Island Excursion with some heavier gear and a bucket full of Pin Fish. Monsters gather under the pier...heaven help you if ya catch a crab hatch...wich are good bait, by the way...FREE 8) 8) 8)

P.S. LOVES me some midget hoes...on the head is a great place to set your beer
