on the tree shelters, be mindful of the top edge of the tube as the trees grow up and out of the top of the tube. if the tube is not rounded off or rolled down as the wind whips the tree back and forth, it can/will tear up the bark and weaken the seedling to the point of breaking it

Looks great. You can just hack a ring around the existing trees.
And if you have some chemical (garlon,grazon, 24d non ester, ) squirt it in the hack mark.
