North Delta
Flooded rice
2 hunters
8 ducks total-
-2 Greenheads
-4 Gadwall
-2 Drake Woodies
Arrived at spot, 60 degrees, South wind and rain.
Morning progressed, front moved through and brought cooler temps, Northwest wind, and more birds.
Most birds seemed like they were on a mission and didn't want to stop.
The birds that did work-died...
Good day.

Hunted north of vicksburg this morning, in flooded fields.... saw over 1,000 mallards, god only knows how many gadwalls, teal, and woodies.... killed 3. None would work all had someplace else they were feeding. All headed north. At least we saw ducks this morning for a change, starting to look up, keep ya'lls head up they are coming.

South Delta. 3 hunters. 8 ducks, including mallards, a widgeon, a teal and couple of woodies. 64 degrees. light, shifting wind. The rain began at shooting time, varying from hard to light to misting, not necessarily in that order.
Traveling ducks started to appear after 8:00. It was a good hunt from then on, but it was one of those mornings where you had to have everything right for them to commit, and we had a number of details not just right, including decoy setup, not having facemasks on all the time, not having enough gloves on, possible inadequate calling, Meeka took a couple of steps toward catching a hen we let light, etc.
We had one group that circled at least 10-12 times. What a hint. We took another look at our setup and made a small decoy change in placement and found success on 3 of the last 4 groups that worked.
It was apparent new birds were coming into the area. I had to come back to rest up and prepare for a big week next week, but the guy with only one glove went back this morning, Sunday, wearing 2 gloves, and got a double quick limit.

By the way, the turnout was VERY light . . . of hunters, that is. I guess everyone's elbows were sore from rubbing them last weekend and the lack of production had everyone discouraged. Oh well, sometimes you have to add extra garlic!! I didn't mind the relative solitude.
