Mine is very high maintenance and doesn't seem to have much better of a nose than his master. I love him to death, though. He's the perfect pet for me.Deltamud77 wrote:German short haired pointers are great family pets I am told. Peculiar personalities, but great nonetheless. Not sure how they would perform as a blood dog though.

Medium size dog-black mouth Cur or mountain cur good at blood trailing and would more than likely be easy to to train to squirrel hunt as well.
Jagd is the one I was referring to in my earlier post that I could not recall the name.

English Springer Spaniel! Awesome dogs
Re: What kind of dog should I get
Boykin Spaniel!! I have had many high quality labs but I have never had a better dog than a Boykin. They are one of the purest bred dogs in the US. The Boykin Spaniel Society is very strict on their breedings so the chance of getting a great dog are very high. My Boykin duck hunts and has recovered numerous deer. They have an excellent nose and are an absolute pleasure as a family dog. They get between 30-40 pounds and are not bad shedders like a lab. If you need more info pm and I will get you in touch with some breeders. I can assure you that you will be hard pressed to find a better dog!!!
