atv spreader
atv spreader
Gonna get me an ATV seed spreader and wanted some of yalls advice on which one to buy. It will mainly be used to just spread wheat for deer food plots but it will be used to spread jap millet too, so I need one that will allow the setting to be very low.

I have used the Tufline Mossy Oak spreader, a ATV rack mounted electric model, and a shoulder-mounted Earthway spreader.
For spreading large amounts of fertilizer or bulk seed, the Tufline pull spreader (~$750) or a tractor-mounted spin spreader is best.
For precise spreading, such as small-seeded legumes, and fertilizing small areas - I would recommend the Earthway 3100 shoulder mounted spreader (~$80) available at many Coops and ForestrySuppliers.com.
The electric mounted ATV spreaders won't do either job as well as the other options in my opinion.

Cabela's has one called Cabela ATV Spreader for $199. Actually, it's made by Moultrie. I have had one for about 8 yrs. and never a problem.
It comes with a bracket that you can leave on your 4-wheeler which makes it real easy to put the seeder on the 4-wheeler. I use mine on the front of my 4 wheeler. The weight is no problem and you can steer better since the weight is not on the back. It throws about 20 feet and I can do 15 acres in an hour or so.
