Who is doing the cutting? You should be fine by next year. It may never be 100% nl again but atleast it won't hurt and will be functional.

All MRI machines are magnets .......won't matter if it's mobile or not. Any metal present and you have a problem.

gotcha. i was thinking that maybe the mobile unit may be shielded outside of the "area of interest", if that's possible.

Dad had his right (shooting shoulder) rotator cuff fixed a few years back. Had it done in mid-June and was dove hunting opening day with my 20 gauge Beretta. Didn't miss a beat come duck season.

Can't remember his name right as it's been a while off but he works out of Memphis and covers the Tupelo area. I've met him a few times for him to hook me up to the computer and calibrate it. I've got so much crap in me I feel like the 6 million dollar man or an erector set.

if there is no reason not to have one, get your anesthesia provider to give you a supraclavicular block.. you won't regret it...

just from my expierence.........I would try everything I could if possible to rehab it before i went with surgery. I had the rotator cuff and labrium repared.....they had to cut. The rehab after is the most important part. Do what they say step by step and you should be ok.

but...........heres where it drove me crazy.......I'm right handed.......try to shave with your left hand. Dang near cut my throat. Tie your shoes, brush teeth, get dressed with only your left hand. Sleep sitting up.........better yet, take a crap and use you left hand. Sometimes I though I looked like the hind end of a cow on rye grass......all those things come in to play after surgery....just a thought to consider.

I didnt have the option for rehab and some injections before hand. I certainly would exhaust this avenue if I had an option.

now put $2 with that and throw it away and you'll be lost something........

i think mine was new to the technique, because i, and the guy ahead of me too, had tremendous pain immediately after...like the block only half worked. it did work a bit, and i know this because of the insane pain the following day. had a great surgeon, that just so happened to SUK with pain management...told me that i was just going to have to work through the pain, wouldn't give me anything other than percocet 10, which was NOT working for me at all.

I've been in therapy as well for some time. Also taken the shots and the time the shots work has gotten shorter and shorter. Eventually the steroids would tear the joint up. I have a family genetic trait for a larger bone in there than should be. Every male in my family eventually has to get the bone shaved.

I had torn cartilage fixed in mine in Jan. of 2004, wasn't that big of a deal. It hurt some for a couple of months, but it wasn't anything that I couldn't handle. I had heard all the horror stories, so I put it off as long as I could. Finally, it had gotten so bad that I couldn't turn my head to one side. I wish I had done it a lot sooner, I would have saved myself tons of discomfort. I was shooting with no problems the next fall. I am going to have the other one done soon.

Thats encouraging as I am in the same boat, no cartilage. I will be seeing the doc this month and getting cut some time there after. Had the MRI done three years ago, just before lil bro's wedding and told the doc the surgery would have to wait as I was the best man. He said, as long as you can take the pain, I can. Well, I can't hardly take it anymore and can't sleep, so somethings gotta give!

I had my surgery yesterday. The nerve block was wonderful, it is starting to wear off though. Please pray for my wife that she don't go crazy.
