Who's going where this weekend?

Postby russell » Thu Dec 06, 2001 7:36 am

I was just going to inquire as to where everyone is going this weekend. I am just talking to those who can't afford a great private lease. Just those public hunters. I am trying Ross Barnett. Although so far there isn't much to talk about. Maybe this "cold" front will bring some more birds down here. Let me know guys......

I tell you what - that is a good question!!! I've been thinking about that all week, and I finally decided I'm going find me some water
Sorry, I just couldn't resist. Now if I told you where I was going to hunt, somebody might actually be crazy enough to get there before me.

Well, my 'great' private lease isn't so great, right now.....I was thinking more along the lines of Missouri or South Dakota.....to find a 'huntable' concentration of birds.

I think one place is just as good/bad as the next....in the lower Delta (Ark, La and Miss.), right now. Like you said, maybe the cool front will push 200 birds into the state....that's about 1 duck/25 hunters. 'Hope you have some luck.

Be Careful in the Rez! I have seen a lot of Gators and Snakes while scouting recently. The warm weather has really brought them out! Good Luck and get there early because there was a lot of traffic there last weekend.

On opening day of Canada goose season, there were some ducks flying at the res. Had it been duck season, we would have had several shots. However, I went back to the same spot this last Sunday and about all we saw was Coots. No ducks, no Geese, until we got back to the boat ramp and then a flock of ducks and another flock of geese flew over.

Head to AR try to kill some snows. My lease is covered with Mallards right now, but they seem a little too aggressive for me I guess they've been fighting with each other because they all have big fat lips??

Unless the ducks move in today, there is not a huntable population of ducks on the res. And as for the crowds, most everyone I talked to were not coming back this weekend. I hunted the res last week and we killed more ducks than anyone we taked to. No mallards. I wont be back to the res til it gets cooler.

I hope they will come down.

Keep me updated.

Good Luck
