Outlaw Josey Wales created a slight breach of etiquette by skipping the triple dare and going right for the throat!

One major flaw in his plan on shooting a big buck out of season for only 400-500. If he gets caught he won't keep the deer

Man, every year about the end of March the refuge is full around here.......and have seen them dry feeding in fields.

up where i "plied" my trade it was mostly over by the first week of march but i was 20 miles from a refuge too. so i don't know what was going on at the refuge. just in the woods i hunted. march 12th was the latest i was "gathering" things. by then i had to start getting ready to make another crop and by then hens were even dropping eggs in the fields we hunted during season as they went north. i had this big tupelo tree i had driven two big nails up in. i would put a garbage bag over the barrel of my gun and stick it up in the tree and rest it on the nails to be ready for me when i made my next trip to the woods. i didn't come or go with a gun. i waited till summer sometimes to go get the gun and bring it out. and i'll not tell how i got the ducks out. it is a trade secret that i spent several sleepless nights developing. really.

i know it wouldn't. a lot more chance getting caught now. i think they should do away with the season and put us on a quota system of say 350 to 400 ducks per year and hunt them from nov 1 to the last of march. the woods wouldn't be near as crowded during the year as they are in a 60 days season. i told a game warden that once when we were talking about how we thought the season should be. i waited till last to tell what i thought and he said, "i thought i was fixing to hear something." i think it's a good idea.

Checklist:

shotgun with silencer

no decoys or calling

small boat, no boat motor

slippin and tippin ---enter before light, leave after dark

with maximum stealth and camo (ghillie suit)

eatin the evidence whilst in the field

apply for unemployment

line up lawyer for inevitable divorce

While I cannot recommend or condone any such scheme, I'm just sayin .....there are lots of ducks around in Feb .... there are possibilities. However, if you only want to shoot a bunch of ducks to make up for bad hunts, then going on an Argentina hunt with DoubleR would likely be a lot cheaper than getting caught --- and probably a lot more fun.

I have over 50 wood ducks visiting the pond in front of my house daily. At times, it looks like one well placed shot could take out twenty or so ---while watching them with binocs and camera. They don't seem too scared of humans right now, but that is because they have no idea what I am thinking...and have no clue about my twitching trigger finger. I will continue to resist all temptation and build them some nesting boxes instead. I ain't that hungry yet. But, a couple of more years of Obamanomics and I may start outlawing for subsistence.

It's really amazing the short distance they can hear a 20 ga when the wind is howling bout 25 down in a timber hole! They'd have to be right on top of you to hear you. 3" 20ga. with lead no. 4's is awesome in a timber hole No matter what month it is!
