Here's another vote for the nova. Solid gun that can handle the conditions.

Fist off, what do you mean it went "out" on you again? What are you shooting now?

A 870 is the best all around gun for the money and that's a fact!

BPS...The 870 is a great gun but the BPS is alot smoother for the money. I also shoot a 1959 Browning A5 and love it

I don't have an 870 but it seems the past couple of years there have been a lot of complaints regarding the gun not being quite as reliable as the older models.

I will attest that the 870 remington is not made like it used to be.
I've had 3 of them manufactured after 1998 and they were all hunks of garbage.

problems:
gun jammed (yes a pump shotgun can/will jam)
fell into peices (self explanatory...you go to shuck a shell and the gun falls all to peices in your hands like a peice of cardboard)

oh....and before you guys say anything...this happend to all 3 of mine and several other people i know.

With many great guns out there to choose from the most important thing is to find the one that fits you the best. In an automatic i personally prefer a Browning over the competition, in a pump i like a Remington. Right now i have 3.5 gold and a 870 supermag. The gold is the one of the sweetest shooting guns i have ever laid hands on but i could use the 870 for an anchor if i needed to and i think it would still go boom! Good luck and i hope this helps.
