Kimber Solo Carry

Anyone seen one of the new Kimber Solo Carry sub compact 9mm pistols? I have been looking for a new conceal carry pistol and just heard about Kimber's new release. Anyone had a chance to shoot one yet?

Pretty little gun but always give the new "little pistols" a few months of being out in case there are recalls. Let them work the bugs out before you trust your life to one!

It looks like a sold weapon though!

If you gonna get a 9mm why not carry a pellet gun.......they are just about the same.

It's just hard to get comfortable with the larger frames. I prefer to pocket/wallet carry. I borrowed a 1911 and carried IWB for a week and just could not get comfortable with it.

I gots me a FNH .45 and its probably one of the more comfortable pistols I've shot. Also the shell capacity is a plus. I've got a 9mm and even my fiance prefers the .45 and she just a little gal.

It is all a matter of what one is comfortable with. If it stays home because it is not comfortable to carry then it does no good. Better to carry a 9 if one doesn't like the 45 than nothing at all

9mm will more than likely slow an attacker down, but if I am carrying with the intent of stopping an attack on me or my loved ones I want a round that will stop it. I say that to say look at Gabbi Giffords (sp?) shot with a 9mm, close range in the head; but gonna make it. I know had she been a threat, she was down....but I want threats dead.

I've heard this before. Guys talkin' like if it ain't a .45, then it ain't $h*t. If that were true, then there wouldn't be so many .32s out there.

The fact is that IF you have to use a firearm against an attacker in defense of self or loved ones, then you are going to empty the gun anyway. Partly because you want the attacker dead, and partly because you want so much noise around you that other potential attackers stay the h3!! away.

Besides, research has shown that there isn't a whole lot of difference between the one shot stopping effectiveness of a 9mm and a .45acp. (Real, scientific research at that.) Notice I said 'One Shot Stopping Effectiveness', slinging a bunch of lead downrange simply out of fear is useless. A miss with one is just as much of a miss as with the other.

Ok, rant over. Sorry for hijacking the thread. Now, back on track. If you find that it is a good pistol, please let us know. I may be interested in getting one for my wife. (She doesn't like guns too much; but with her new job, she may decide that one is needed.)

We don't know what bullet the attacker used in AZ. My bet since it was a through and through on the congresswoman he used full metal jacketed bullet. If he were using hollow points she wouldn't be alive. He has shown he isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer so I bet h didn't know anything about ballistics. Thank goodness he didn't know ormthe damage would have been greater than it was

I agree that bigger is better when it comes to stopping power however for a CC pistol I was leaning towards a Ruger LCP .380. I would prefer a 9mm over a .380 if there isn't that much difference in frame size. A 500 S&W has great stopping power but I am not going to carry it every day. I need something comfortable to carry, particularly when wearing a suit as I do most days. Otherwise I would just carry my Springfield XD 40. Never owned a Kimber but I know their 1911s are fine pistols. I figured the smaller pistol would have similar quality and reliability.

Don't misunderstand what I said. I have .22, .32, .38, 9mm, and .40 pistols. My favorite is an old .38 special from early 60's. With hollow points that sucker is plain mean. The Kimber.45 is the only Kimber I've ever shot. I love the way it looks. By the way, my carry gun is .380 pocket pistol. With the load I use, it's bad to the bone and you can't tell it's in my pocket.

check out the LC9, it is supposed to be a little bigger than the .380 version. I like the looks of that kimber though
