I am just sitting at my desk thinking back on my days in high school. I had two buddies that were as gung-ho about duck hunting as I was. Now, it seems as if I always have to go by myself. The buddies are nowhere around here. Duck hunters are a breed apart from the rest of society, it's hard to find good, faithful partners to hunt with. Any of you feel the same? Guess I'm just enjoying old, fond memories and hoping to make some more.

I'm with ya scooter. I'll never quit. The sound and sights of ducks will ALWAYS get my blood pumping. I'm waiting for my little girl (she's 2) to get big enough to tag along. Guess the real fun is on the horizon, huh?

I know what you mean. I have a group that I've been hunting with for several years, and one of those fellas has been hunting with me for almost ten years now.
Hunting with good friends makes every hunt a good one. My fondest memories aren't of the ducks we've killed. I remember the poker games the night before opening day and the "philosophizing" in the duck blind. Don't get me wrong, I like to kill ducks as much as any guy, but without the friends, it just wouldn't be nearly as enjoyable for me.
Time to head home....been a long day at work today. God Bless you all.

I have chased those great birds for a very long time. Some of my hunting friends have moved on, some have died, some really were not duck hunters. Now I hunt by myself most of the time (just the old girl and me). I do hunt with close friends in Holmes County. The day that I can not go will be a terrible thing for me. May our last day be in a duck blind. Jack

These are my thoughts about the value of
DUCK HUNTING:
1) Sitting in the blind watching the sun the
sun come up with the dekes setup is
worth ...........$100,000.
2) Seeing the "V" 's of ducks starting to
fly over your hole ........$200,000.
3) The first group that dives into the decoys
before you even have a chance to call!
.........$300,000
4) Watching your "best friend" (your dog) go
go get the few ducks you managed to get
a steel shot in........$400,000
5) That special day when every duck in the
bottom has eyes for your spread.. groups
of 10 to 30 diving in every 20 minutes,
until you get tired of shooting (or run
out of shells)............$500,000
6) Enjoying it all with sons, daughters,
brothers, fathers, good friends, or
even a dog...............PRICELESS!
God must be a duck hunter.
Good luck this weekend.

Now ya'll quit, I'am getting all teary eyed.
I grew up small game hunting with my Dad,
but turned into a deer hunter in the early
'80's.The thing I miss the most about duck
hunting is the fellowship of standing around
shooting the s#$t, not nessarily shooting the ducks.
BUT LOOK OUT GREENHEADS HERE I COME
Them Bucks can wait!

Ducknrev, who did you hunt with around here. I know one of your old neighbors that used to duck hunt-Goza. He is living in Jackson now making a killing selling life insurance. I can remember dropping him off at 3 in the morning(we had been out all night) and him getting his gear and heading over to meet some other guys to go.
