will putting duck and goose decoys in the same field will it limit ducks from coming in

Ducks wont typically fly low over goose decoys... and they usually wont look down into goose decoys very seriously. therefore, hiding in the goose decoys is good, and having goose decoys downwind of your landing zone is bad. travis

if i understand you, you can hide in goose decoys just dont put them down wind of the duck decoys, put them up wind hide in them and duck hunt? correct. what im tryng to do is hunt both at the same time without scewing up both, talking only a couple dozen goose decoys and about 80 duck decoys

I've shot mallards and pintails that decoyed into nothing but goose decoys readily in Canada and Texas, but it was dry field hunting. We always put a dozen specks out on each pit in Arkansas and it never bothers the ducks. This year, we put 4 dozen blue and snow floaters on one corner of our duck decoys around one pit and it is our #1 producer this year (not because of the goose decoys because it's always a hot pit, but it didn't hurt).

I agree AR in Stuttgart we typically put a couple dozen full body specks on the levee and a dozen or so floaters in the water just off the levee outside the duck decoys and smash em regularly.

I would recomend not running a spinning wing decoy if you are serious about shooting geese. Just a personal experience.

Holy cow man...are you putting out and picking up 80 blocks each hunt? Put your goose decoys behind or just upwind of blind...builds confidence. I'm not sure you can effectively target geese and ducks at same time.

the main advantage to snow goose decoys is they can be seen a LONG way away. So they have a draw factor to them. ducks wont typically land in them, but will land close to them. so often times when i was skinner and loved to coffin blind hunt, we'd use honk or snow decoys to hide in, and set duck decoys like regually. ducks are often dry feeing in the mud with geese this year, and an inch of water has been the hottest ticket ive seen. travis
