Are you kidding??? "The price you will have (not haft) to pay"??? People run dogs in every county in MS. I know dogs can't read, but some (yes some, not all) people kick their dogs out knowing that they will run on somebody else's place that they shouldn't be on, and they don't care. That's the most ridiculous arguement I think I've ever heard! And furthermore, his post says "Why I don't like hunting deer with dogs." It doesn't say "All dog hunters are trespassers" or "Make deer dogging illegal." He was stating his opinion.strongriverducker1 wrote:Dude I am saying dog hunters don't trespass, I'm just saying that is what hunters use as a excuse about dogs. No dogs cant read and they follow the deer. If the deer runs across your place with a dog behind it I am sorry. But when you live in a county like Scott where dog hunting happens that is the price you will haft to pay. ALL I am saying is don't attack another man's sport just because one or two do wrong. I love to still hunt, but I love running those dogs too!!

That ain't what I meant. The battle that is on going are the people that still hunt the areas like the dog area and then complain. Or that guy that hunts next to a ten thousand acre dog club and gets mad about dogs around him. There is plenty of room for every one to have fun in my opion.

dogs can't read posted signs, just like my snares/spring traps can't tell the difference b/w a beagle and a coyote
we've had problems for years, on our private land, by people running dogs in the forest. There is no recourse for landowners, and there should be. I'm not for outlawing dog hunting, but there has to be some form of recourse for private landowners who's properties are being ruined.

YOU"RE STILL JUSTIFYING IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sounds like you are the guy who doesn't give a rats booty if his dogs get on other peoples property. Go back and read what you just wrote
It doesn't matter if you have 10K acres or 100, if you can't keep your dogs on your own land, don't run them, period
Why is my mouth so dry this morning, when I drank so much last night?
Re: Why i don't like hunting deer with dogs
Somebody from Bama can confirm this but I think they got some rule's and reg's for dog hunting from fee's to the amount of land you must have.As long as the current people in charge of MS. game and fish stay in place there will be no change they are very pro dog not pro landowner.I use to dog hunt and don't have a problem with it if done rite but I have around 200 acres that I don't bother with anymore (food plot's)because the dog hunter's turn loose on a few acres that 1 of them owns next to me to basicly run my land.
Re: Why i don't like hunting deer with dogs
I somewhat have to agree with strong river ducker here. That area is know for for running dogs. Yes it is the price you may have to pay if you choose to hunt in that area. Now also like SRD said it's not the true dog hunters that are the problem. Yes if their dogs get hot on a deer and that deer goes across the property line onto you there's not a whole bunch anyone can do about it. The dog is going to follow! Now if someone intentionally turns dogs loose just so they can run on your property now there is something you can do about about that. It's called trespassing! Look into it!arduckslayer wrote:Are you kidding??? "The price you will have (not haft) to pay"??? People run dogs in every county in MS. I realize what the intial post was about but the 2 are very related. Having grown up around deerhounds (my grandad then my dad had them) I know all to well the dog can go from looking very healthy to looking way worse than that in a matter of less than 2 weeks if he's runnin hard. MOST GOOD dogs do end up lookin like that or worse by seasons end! Trust me the REAL dog hunters care for their dogs, invest a lot of time and money in them to do one thing come huntin season and that's RUN! It's part of it. We use to loose dogs and sometimes not get them back for a month or sometimes even 2 but pretty nearly always got them back though. Most of you anti dog people have no clue just how far a dog will run a deer. I'll tell we use to put out in x block of woods shortly after good light . Many a nite have someone call from 40 plus miles away with my dog that was turned loose that morning! Spent a many a nite lookin for my dogs. Again that's just part of it. Like the man says you try to hunt around an area that's know for it then don't complain about it!

I Don't have a problem with the dogs running where they are supposed to be running.
but i do have a problem with dog hunters that leave there dogs out in the woods, to wonder on everyone elses property, and ulitmately end up on there last leg at some one elses house 40 miles away.
This post is not about deer.
its about people leaving dogs in the woods for a month. Nothing about that says, "i care alot about my dogs"
By the way why does everyone think they know where this pic was taken?

Re: Why i don't like hunting deer with dogs
No jelly I am not. And because I know that dog it was turned out over 4 miles from there Tuesday morning. I don't know a hunter that leaves their dog out for over a month. We catch ours each day if we can.

Re: Why i don't like hunting deer with dogs
Don't wanta argue 'bout nothin, but that hound don't look starving to me. His ribs are barely showing and maybe skipped a couple of "Sunshines" but looks in perfect racing trim to me. Can't believe somebody ain't scarfed him up. If he's been running for 3-4 days he's prolly a goodun!!!!! That's a genuwine Redneck opinion. Maybe some of u need to go hang at PETA.com if you have problems wit dat...
Watched a dude at Mah. years ago tossing those gray rocks out in the water making his Lab retrieve them.
I couldn't believe it as the dogs teeth were taking a beating! I asked the dude...He said, "Just a dog, we gots lots of them".

I'm done you don't even deserve a come back. If u have never dog hunted you don't understand. No need to talk to someone that turns every thing around.
