Why i don't like hunting deer with dogs

Postby jdbuckshot » Tue Dec 28, 2010 1:31 pm

Seems like somebody else's deer dogs always end up in my yard, at my camp, side of the road, or here at the place where i eat lunch at every day.

This dog i starving to death, because the owner can't find it. or stopped looking for it. sure sad for the dog.

Dog hunters should be required to have a trackin device of some sort and should retrieve there dogs after each hunt. it aint right to let them roam around starving to death and worry every body else. Im sure the owner of this resturant is very happy this starving dog is on the front porch.

The dog had an old collar on and i called the #, the guy said he has not had deer dogs in 5-6 years. i gave him what was left of my lunch.

I'm not against hunting of any kind, but i am against leaving dogs out in the woods to starve.

it just aint right.

That's terrible.. Don't know how many times I have had deer dogs come up to me in the woods looking for something to eat.

I agree. I ain't for outlawing it, but I am for more laws governing it and stiffer fines.

But i sure hate to see them left out to starve and die.

I have noticed more and more hunters using the tracking collars now on their dogs.
We have some run through on our farm (we dont use them, they release them from the HWY) in Pontotoc from time to time and all have the tracking colar on them. Then the muts that jump in with them from no telling where.
May the wind always be at your back and the sun upon your face, and may the wings of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars.
Cheers, Georgie.

Who would run deer with a yellow lab???
It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

by the breeding, looks to me like a mtn cur, aka squirrel or coon dog-not a deer dog.

jd he might be telling the truth, and just lost his sq dog; he might not own any deer dogs.

i'm curious, when you called him did he even want the dog back? was he interested at all in retaining the dog?

i sq hunt with mtn cur, and mine has gps tracking collar on her at all times. this day in age, that is the only way to go. sad to see something like this; gives dog hunters a bad name no matter what they're running their dogs on.

strongriverducker1 wrote:That's not a good picture for an anti to see dude. One of the reasons that that dog may have another collar is because stealing deer dogs is a big thing in Scott county. They are stealing house dogs that look like that and are trying to run deer with them because they are to lazy to raise their own. There is a group of sorry hunters around there that makes us all look bad, not all dog hunters are like that. 90% of tresspassing calls are because of still hunters. By the way I dog hunt that area.

WEll this is a hunting Web site. There are way more antis that see this dog in the real world than they see on this sight. and there are plenty more dogs like it all over the state

This is a deer dog. i have seen this dog running deer on MY PRIVATE property. i called the name on the collar, and he said he did not have a dog. Its somebodys dog, they painted there initailas on the side of it.

there is nothing more fun than hunting with a dog, whether its ducks, squirrl or what ever. i just hate to see the dogs end up like this.

That's because 95% of hunters are still hunters

IF you cross my fence and spook deer out of my food plot, or off my land you are trespassing. There is no difference in you spooking game off my land, or your dogs spooking game of my land. My well prepared hunting ground that i paid for is now stripped of the deer that were on it.

i know humans can read posted signs and dogs cannot. but respectable hunters should keep there deer dogs off posted lands. Period.

So if you take that into consideration, the "5%" of dog hunters do a whole lot of trespassing, even though they never cross a fence them selves.

Are you seriously justifying dogs being on other peeople's land being ok? That is what gives them a bad name and you are justifiying it.

So if I live in Scott county I just have to live with others dogs running on my property? WOW
