New Duck Boat
Working on putting together a new duck boat. It's a 15/46 duracraft with a 25 horse 4 stroke yamaha. It's a very plain boat with nothing in or on it and open ribbed. i'm putting some old dock foam in the bottom and putting down a 5/8 treated plywood floor. Thats as far as I've gotten. Any ideas on good ways to customizing it?
Re: New Duck Boat
First order of business for me would be some dry storage.

Re: New Duck Boat
I got a gun box off ebay. i checked on aluminium. 4x8 sheets of 3/16 smooth is about $250 to $300 apeice. plus i have to build a frame work to go under it. i can do all this myself but this is kind of a trial and error project since this is my first duckboat. another question i have is would it be worth the money to put tilt and trim and a jackplate on the motor. what about any other interior ideas.
Re: New Duck Boat
You can get by with thinner sheets than 3/16 and save a little money. If you can find some old signs from the highway dept. they work great. Under the floor I would get some blue or pink foam sheets from Fastenal, Home Depot, etc. This will add some support where you'll be walking as well as adding some flotation to your rig in case it gets swamped.
Personally I don't like the gun box in a boat that narrow. What I have seen is they typically get loaded with crap that you rarely use and take up floor space. For guns, paddles, and other small items I'd recommend one of these:

The other item I would get if your motor doesn't have tilt / trim is a CMC-PT130

Re: New Duck Boat
Are you planing to use a pop-up blind on this boat ?
If so, it is VERY easy to build your own out of conduit, and custom fit it to your boat.

This is a very good thread, with pictures, that shows you how.

That is a way to customize it, just not a good one.
You want a blind on a boat, go see Bert @ Greenwood Nursery in Greenwood, MS
Best boat blind built

Re: New Duck Boat
I mounted a gun rack to the back of my seat, very nice way to hold guns without banking them up in the boat.
Re: New Duck Boat
I agree on the Bert Fleming blind. Best around
