Hero vs crackberry

Postby rustypjr » Thu Dec 23, 2010 10:28 am

Okay I need some input.. I have had my HTC Hero for a year now. Well I have pretty much hated it the entire time. So my question is... What do yall like about a blackberry? How is the internet browsing compared to a touch screen phone? I really like the touch screen but have had nothing but problems with this phone. It freezes and locks up all the time. My wife loves hers. She has the HTC hero as well. Just preferences i guess.

I have had a blackberry for work since 2005. I hated it at first but once I got used to the way it operates I guess I like it.
I carry one now for work and one personal blackberry. I drop mine at least once a day and the blackberrys have been very durable. The web browsing kinda sux but for everything else I like it. The web browsing is REALLY bad on my ATT blackberry (the commercials saying fastest network...my booty)
The cellular south web browsing is better but still not great. I do use it in deerstand to keep myself entertained.
When I bought my latest blackberry I was debating on the hero. When I told the guy how often I drop it he said get the blackberry.

I have a hero and I HATE IT!! Right after I got it I dropped it and the screen shattered. The folks at Cell South said they could not fix it so I ended up having to order the part and doing it myself. You have to take the phone completely apart to replace the screen. Very scary if you don't know what you are doing. I can't master the touch screen to save my life. Never hit the right letter when texting. I think you need to have tiny elf hands to use a touch screen. My wife has a blackberry and she makes fun of me when I fuss about the hero because she tried to get me to go with a blackberry. If you don't like the hero then you will like a blackberry.

I just got my first real smartphone (my old flip phone was smart enough to turn itself off at will and add info to the SIM card by itself, but that is another story). I got the Blackberry Torch, which has both a keyboard AND a touch screen. I'm still trying to figure this thing out, but so far it has done everything I ask of it, so I like it.

Go in and check out the Galaxy S, a big improvement over the Hero, larger screen, android ops system, better web browsing, etc. Its is Samsung's answer to the I phone. It will keep you entertained in the blind or on the stand. Seems like most carriers are headed toward the android versions this year and reports say that RIM (Blackberry) is falling farther behind in the market.

I got rid of my Iphone and got the Blackberry Torch and don't regret it one bit. The new blackberries have a lot faster internet browsing than the old ones used to.

I am on my 3rd Blackberry curve and I love em. Once u get used to the Blackberry layout they are very user friendly and tough. Wife lost my first one and I gave her my second one and she loves it as well. The only thing that sucks about cellular south blackberrys and all their phones I think, is you can't send picture messages with them unless you use the blackberry messenger. No biggie if all your friends have blackberrys tho. I will recommend the otter box if you don't mind the extra bulk. Dropped mine into a pot of boiling gravy and pulled it out real quick and wiped it down. Never got on the phone. Also, the wife ran over one with the car and it didn't even break the otter box.

blackberry is where it's at, they are much more durable than the heroes, iphones, etc. (i fix phones so I know for sure). I love my blackberry, it does anything I want it to do and always seems to have better service than my roommates hero does as well. can't go wrong with a blackberry, they have been around for a long time and continue to get better and better

Marsh maniac, my friend sent me pictures from her crackberry all the time, and i have a regular phone...is this something everyone else has experienced?
And not to hijack the thread, but who here likes the motorola droid? Thinking of getting one for my birthday in march

Does she have her service through cellular south? That's who I use. Great phone service but I can't send a picture text. I think their phone plans don't allow pic texts if I'm not mistaken. I don't think it has anything to do with blackberry.

Plus I have a friend who has the hero. Less than 2 months old the touch screen went out. They sent him a new one but still a p.I.t.a.
