Ouch.... that's going to leave a mark...

Sometimes you just have to close your eyes, count to ten, take a deep breath and remind yourself that you wouldn't look good in prison stripes... and just smile at that dumbass and walk away.

I'm surprised he wasn't baiting.

I think he did just find with out baiting. What are you going to do pour corn out when he had it flooded to the cob. Thats one heck of a setup.

No kidding, dude was a strait up outlaw. He want do any jail time, we have enough people in this country that needs to be jailed than to worry about putting people who kill too many ducks in jail. Will probably lose his hunting license for life.

Yeah GC, the rest of the indictment didn't really slap me in the face too bad...but the part about coaxing them to within pellet gun distance with bread is simply shameful...especially in the name of "bling". One mallard here, two or three mallards there with the most I noticed being over was 9 if memory serves me correctly...in the overall scheme of things it really wasn't as bad as it was made out to be. For some reason I was expecting to see 15-20 ducks over the limit on numerous occasions for years.

I think one of the counts that really stands out as well is the incidents when the guides were instructed not to shoot, as well as counting them towards people who weren't even present.

And yea, the goose thing was just plain low.

Friend of mine brought up a good point on this today:

The job of a Federal Warden is to protect wildlife and prosecute those who break the rules. This investigation has been going on for a great amount of time, and they (more than likely knew what he was doing) for that time. At what point do they say enough is enough to bring the thunder? How many times over the limit or what not does it take? How many times does an over the limit duck massacre have to take place before he is called out on it. Why not get him the first time and teach the dude a lesson?

Disclaimer: I am in no way shape form or fasion bashing the officers, nor I am endorsing this douche bag.

Agreed. I thought it was interesting that they used undercover officers that shot over the limit themselves because Foiles "told them to." So undercover wardens can shoot over the limit, as long as it is to bust someone for shooting over the limit?

I think that sometimes undercover drug agents have to partake in the drugs they are purchasing in order to help prove themselves as not working for the po-po. I could be 100% wrong on this though.

Kind of hard to say. If he shot 2 over the limit and they popped him right off the bat, then a number of fans would be saying "well, he just didn't count them correctly" or something similar. They like to make strong cases and in this situation, it appears they did so.

If they went to the extent of having under cover agents with him, they weren't gonna stop with shooting a few birds over the limit...they were gonna give him all the rope he wanted to completely hang himself...and the Feds don't lose often....

I would say that it is part of the gig. Look at the few times they did it prevented it from still going on today. There use to be a pretty good story about them taking down a night deer hunting ring and had to participate to get the evidence.

had they popped him for a couple extra susies, and making a false entries in the books, nobody would have thought anymore about it than a bad day and a bad desescion. they took the time, and put people with him often enough, they can prove an ongoing conspricy to commit violations of the lacey act. Did you see the list of stuff they are going to grab? Its because they put it all together, and they got him for the normal stuff, the paperwork violations, and the ongoing conspricy of the lacy act. They are going to take every decoy, gun, 4 wheeler, trailer, and blind he used to break the law. Oddly, i didnt see a crossman pellet gun listed in the indicment.

Anybody can make a misteak, even a grevious one they knew better. Doing it time and time again, shows you don't care and you are purposefully doing it. And just like they take down mobsters for income tax invasion, those false book records and the lacy act is what has cooked his goose, and shows an ongoing conspricy. If convinceted on one felony charge he cant own a gun or buy ammo in illnois, and can't go into Canada. Regardless of the outcome of the trial, I think his days in the outdoor busines is over.

Our kids watch these videos and identify with these 'pro's'. My son wants to be a professional dog trainer or an exhibition shooter, he wants a career in the outdoors (most kids into at his age do... we know how that goes). We sat and talked for 30 minutes last night, not about what foiles is accused of, that was duck blind talk sat morning. But about what its going to cost him. A lifetime of work, gone. I explained to tj, if your gonna be someone in the outdoors, you gotta be ABOVE the law. You can't even make the simple misteaks, or ride with people who are rougeish, because its gonna come back and bite you. if you associate with trash that flaunts the game laws, sooner or later the man is gonna get you, guilty by association. And that go for the mempihs pd, or any law enforcement... hope it was worth my time, I think it was. travis

Travis, that is very well put. Moreover, I have had some dealings with the outdoor industry through legal work. There are some glaring exceptions, but in the outdoor product business (in my experience), you have essentially a bunch of used car salesmen. It is a cut-throat business full of rogue, rednecks looking to make a dollar at someone's expense. Like I said, there are those who are honest and forthright, but man, there are some guys I won't trust further than I could throw.
