Watch out for this one

Postby Muddy Boots » Sun Dec 12, 2010 12:44 pm

Yesterday had a couple of guys from our club get stopped by a game warden and have their Handi Rifles checked in back of their Tahoe. Both of them got tickets for loaded guns in the truck. Neither rifle had shell in the chamber and were in their cases on the backseat. However they both had one of those Allen shell holders that slip over your buttstock to hold your bullets and had some in each. So they got tickets. I thought at the time it was bs but reading the reg today I see how it could be interpeted as being loaded. Thought I'd bring it up to keep us out of trouble out there.

same if there is a sling w/shell holders, with shells in them, attached to the gun - if i don't take the shells out of mine, i take the sling off and put it in my backpack when casing up gun for the ride home. ammo must be stored in a separate and closed place from the cased gun...whether it be a closed pocket on the OUTSIDE of the case or a shirt pocket. can't have a closed box of ammo INSIDE the case with the gun, either.
Experience is a freakin' awesome teacher...

Were they just riding down a road and got pulled over by the warden or were they parked on the side of a road and just coming out of woods and getting ready to leave? Still seems pretty nick picky to me. But from the way this year is going with all the different post nothing is supprising

That is a bit picky. That would be like deciding to start writing tickets for driving 5 miles over the speed limit after years of letting people do it.

A loaded pistol in your car isn't illegal in MS I believe due to the "Castle Doctrine" law. However a hunting rifle with bullets on the stock apparently is.

 Nobody ever said it has to make sense!!!!!!! If an "turd-cutter" is an "turd-cutter"; 1 reason is as good as any other.
In this case, there is no reason, or rationale, just an "turd-cutter" being an "turd-cutter".
Keep yo-self clean, and don't get screwed like these did!!!!

glad this topic was made. I didn't realize that was illegal and i've had one on my gun stock for years with 10 bullets in it. :shock:You just saved me a couple hundred bucks i'm sure.

Thanks
