Trust

Postby landscaper » Wed Aug 18, 2010 9:10 pm

Not only has the Lord blessed me beyond measure with my son, but He also continually uses him to show me things and to give me gentle nudges that help to keep me on the narrow path. In my one year old son's room, along with his baby furniture, is a queen size bed. He is pretty tall, at about 32 inches, and is a great climber, but the bed is taller than he is and there is no way he can get on or off of that bed safely by himself. We like to sit on the bed together, though, and read books and play with his toys. When he loses interest and is ready to move on to other things he gets on his knees and turns around to begin backing off the bed. I offer him both my index fingers, and he grips them tightly, and I wrap the rest of my hands around his tiny little wrists and lower him safely to the floor. We've done this countless times, but tonight was different. When he got tired of reading he started his dismount routine, but, this time, instead of waiting for my hands, he started backing over the edge on his own. He was fully committed. For better or for worse. And he knows from other near falls that doing that on his own could have undesirable consiquinces. But he also knew that he wasn't on his own! Before he started his descent he looked me straight in the eye and smiled, and I could see in his eyes complete faith and trust that his father was going to be there to reach out and securely take his hands and keep him from falling. And I was! And in that moment my Heavenly Father said "See? It's so simple! All you have to do is reach out for my hand and I'll take hold! I'll keep you from falling! I'll set you down safe and sound! TRUST me!"

Thank you Lord! Help me to simply trust!

Isn't it amazing how it should be so easy to put complete trust in the lord, but at many moments it's still so difficult? Having 100% faith in the Lord is something I have been workikng on every day.
