Looking for Stud Dog

Postby skuna » Sat Apr 17, 2004 9:56 am

I have a blf that is off of GRHRCH Chavez Magnolia Rebel MH X GRHRCH Yocona Bottom Yoco that I'm looking to breed to a HRCH/MH or GRHRCH or FC Stud. She will be coming in with in the next month or so. She is two years old and her hips will be certified before breeding. What is a reasonable stud fee for a sire along these lines. I'm not trying to get out cheap but just want to know what to expect. Color is not going to be a factor here for me. I'm not going to make a profit off of this. Plan on selling pups for enough to cover stud fee and other exspenses.

Hey Josh, Travis is the dam of his dog "Yoco" Ronnie Harwell's dog? If so, is she a GRHRCH? I asked him (I believe it was about this dog) and he said she was an HRCH? Which is right? do I have dogs mixed up? Isn't that his yellow female? Funny thing is, the reason I asked him is because at Hurricane Lake hunt test they had the dog I'm thinking of listed as a GRHRCH, and that's when he told me that she was in fact a HRCH. Not in any way shape or form knocking his dog, just trying to get some clarification because this, if it is as I think it is, is a re-curring mistake. Ok now after all that is said, I can tell you (skuna boy) that goosebruce has a fantastic dog that he studs out. He can give you the exact specifics on it, but I know that in speaking with him the other night that he was the youngest male to get to 500 hrc points and did so with a 92% pass ratio. If I am not mistaken he is out of one of the top 10 producing UKC males all time. I can't say what he charges stud fee, but stud fees range anywhere from $200 for a non titled just regular plain jane backyard dog up into the thousands of dollars for the top of the line FC/AFC dogs. You have to decide what you want, but make sure for the sake of the breed that you do your homework and get a dog that has AT LEAST ofa good, with eyes that check out as well. I'm just tipping the iceberg here, there are a lot more factors to look at as well and some other guys on here can elaborate better on them.

Yoco is listed as a HRCH on the pedigree but it is a couple years old and I noticed that Yoco was listed as GRHRCH in the Hurricane Lake program so I assumed she had gotten her grand title here lately. I'm glad I found that out before I did breed her, wouldn't want to mislead anybody.

skuna,

Yoco is in fact an HRCH dog. The program from HLHRC was simply a misprint with typing out a program with over 300 dogs in it. No re-occuring events John, the man just relied on what he read. Also, Rowdy's mom, Ali, is a littermate to Skuna's pups sire, Rebel.

Guess that rules Rowdy out.

Yup, a lil too close...

If I had a well bred yellow factored bitch, Id certainly be looking for a yellow stud. Locally, Id look at croppers rice paddy daddy (coffee). hrch dog, 1000 ukc points, 1 grand pass, on top 10 list all time producers and defiently this areas #1 producer. This dog is the sire on my rowdy dog, scott greers ghrch liza dog that just won sportdog team on super retreiver series, and a bunch of other local ch dogs. Call Linda Brewer at Duk Dawg Retreviers 731 645 9796 for more info. She'll be in texas for week, starting next thursday.

Stud fees will range from 500-750 for ht sires. fc sires range from 750 (chavez) - to around 2500 (ford). Plus a lot of fcs dont do natrual breedings even if you could get to them, so factor in cash for AI and all that goes with it. Any black hunt test dog bred to a well known (meaning popular stud) fc dog, will lose a ton of money on the litter... for an untitled dog, forget it most wouldnt even return your call and you'd loose several grand doing it.

Yoco is a 500 point dog. She isnt a grand dog. In fact, she probably never will be, cause ronnie can't remeber to send entries in! bwhahahahaha. Lil joke for him, cause he forgot to send his grand entries in this time. travis

Skuna,
I know of two yellow dogs you could consider.

HRCH Hoss's Dream of Magic SH and running Master's - Owned by Jesse Sheppard - Rebel's owner and trainer.

Or

As posted earlier, Coffee (HRCH Cropper's Rice Paddy Daddy), I would probably give Coffee a try simply because when crossing Coffee with your dog would get back into a similiar breeding that was done with Coffee and Scot and Mark Whitakers dog Allie (HRCH Whitaker's Playtime Alibi). Allie is a littermate to Rebel. The litter between Coffee and Allie has produced numerous HRCH dogs, one of which I own from the first litter and could not ask for more. I'm sure Travis and anyone else owning these dogs would tell you the same. This is just my two cents worth, but I definately would consider giving it a try and they are just over the Mississippi line into TN.

real yella

Postby dukdawgn » Fri Apr 30, 2004 8:41 pm

he'd better make it a sho nuff yella male. she's a yella factored black bitch from a yella bitch that's thrown 3 yella's from a total 12+ pups, and that particular litter had none.
