Watching the Blair Witch project is something no deer hunter should do...that movie cross my mind to this day and freaks me out in the woods and it's been 10 years or something!

ra's went camping out on the wilkerson place in the 70's and were awakened by "screaming" off in the distance....most of the older guys that took us said it was a panther, but one whispered in my ear "it's not a panther, it's just marie leveaux...". didn't know who she was at the time, but it made a lot more sense when i got older and learned of the song. still don't know if it was one of them messing with us, or if it was a wild cat of some sort in heat, but it scared the pee pee out of us young'uns!!!

.....and i've walked out of a mist laden slough a few times singing wooley swamp to myself, as well.... 8) ....spooky!

My grandfather told a tale about a "screaming woman". He was a German immigrant into Mexico and spent several years on the outskits of Mexico City. Appatently the locals had been hearing the noise for a while inside a cave and since he was the "Gringo with the big flashlight" they talked him into leading an expedition into the cave. Found it to be a Mountain Lion, and if I remember correctly it was injured or something. I have heard them in South Tx and they do sound like a scream but not sure if it is any worse than the coyouts howl... When I was about 15 I had a stand that was just the other side of a badger's den, and about every morning that dude would start clacking his teeth and I would high tail it to the stand.

it will make you think differently about the noises you hear in the dark woods at night......coyotes are tame compared to what your imagination can do to you.....alone.....in the woods....at night..... !

I'm not proud to say that movie f'd with my head a little. I was walking to the stand early one morning and had a turkey fly off the roost way up in a pine directly above my head. I thought I's dead right then and there.

Well I was walking through a draining ditch on our property in the woods during bow season this year and my phone went off! I thought I had it on silent but didnt. Scared the living crap out of me! All I heard was theirs a jungle cat in the bathroom, from the hangover. I was just thinking about a coyote den or something might be in here before it happened.

This is why I look like a C5 bomber going into the woods! More clothes then I need on, any type of light I can get on or in my hand, plus 20 more shells then I need!
Any noises made gets hit with a light.
May the wind always be at your back and the sun upon your face, and may the wings of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars.
Cheers, Georgie.

Glad to see Im not the only one whose imagination can play tricks on from time to time. Blair Witch will mess with any and every hunters head. I will bet some of these people on here say whatever quit being a sissy. I challenge anyone to watch that movie tonight then head out hunting in the morning. It might not be the first thing you think about but it will be something that crosses your mind when you hear a twig break or some noise in the distance!!!!!! And the bad thing is the movie isn't even scary its something that could happen.
