I was just waiting for that !

With all the Money at stake, the NCAA just made a "temporary" ruling in my opinion.

As we all know, just because a player is "eligible" now, doesn't mean that he can't be ruled Ineligible at some latter date (Reggie Bush).

i was scrubbed in doing a case here in birmingham and all of a sudden the lights started to flicker and the walls and floor started to shake. i had no idea what was happening. i thought it was either a small earthquake (or either the construction crew outside knocked off one end of the building). when i finished the case i sought out the origin of this disturbance. i was surprised to find that when it was ruled that cam newton was indeed eligible to play by the ncaa, the giant hot-air and stool filled balloons of every sniveling bammer in the area had all burst at the same instant creating some sort of mullet supernova. you see, the only hope after losing the iron bowl was that cam was ineligible so they would retroactively be awarded a win (since they couldn't make it happen friday afternoon). now their hope is that maybe (just maybe) at this years family reunion, first cousin melba will no longer be married to uncle bubba so she will again be "eligible"!

Renardo Sydney had to sit out all of last year because his dad was accused with no proof of the same thing that Cam's dad was just found guilty of.

This is something that people said would happen 3 weeks ago. The NCAA would say there was wrong-doing, Auburn would deem Cam to be ineligible while at the same time enter a request for reinstatement, and the NCAA would then say Cam is cleared to play AT THIS POINT in the investigation. Cam being given the "eligible" status is from the reinstatement arm of the NCAA. With only the facts they have been given at this point and time, they ruled he could play. What Cecil did is against NCAA rules and Cam will still fall to the consequences of such action at such point and time. Mean while Auburn will continue to be investigated by NCAA and FBI. It may be 6 weeks, it may be 6 months, it may even be 6 years; but the corrupt nature in which AU athletics has dealt with friends of their program is going to be brought out. There is no way there is that much smoke and not some fire. This is a $$$ thing, plain and simple. Disrupt the bowls and national championship at this point of the season??? NO, got too much riding on it. Auburn will get their chance at a NC and Cam will play until the draft in April. In the end, it will still be AU and the friends of the program who must face the bullet. Watch and see, watch and see.

Much easier to catch a thief when he thinks the police have all gone home, as goes the Days of Lives (Cam Newton edition)

It is waaay to early for the NCAA to make a final ruling on this, but they had to make some kind of ruling. If they ruled him ineligible and he had to sit out the rest of the season, but they later determined that he did nothing wrong, it would be too late to go back. Auburn would have missed out on the NC and they could not change that. On the other hand, they can rule him eligible right now and take the wins away later if they rule that he was ineligible the whole time.

All that to say, this is a temporary ruling to get them by until the investigation is finished, which could be a loooong time from now.

Do you really think that the NCAA and BCS wants to see a TCU-OR natl Championship game ?
Auburn "travels" very well and they want the money right now.

I aslo Believe that it is the FBI that is preventing the NCAA from doing any serious investigating right now, until the FBI completes it's on-going Criminal investigations into the affairs of some of the folks that may have also been involved in Paying for players.

However, I did hear a good one today....
Cam was cleared of all charges concerning the stolen computer...

It seems that it had Cam's name on it and he thought that it was his...

Cam, much like Bo Jackson, seems to have dyslexia....

The computer said MAC

According to facts of the case agreed upon by Auburn University and the NCAA enforcement staff, the student-athlete's father and an owner of a scouting service worked together to actively market the student-athlete as a part of a pay-for-play scenario in return for Newton's commitment to attend college and play football. NCAA rules (Bylaw 12.3.3) do not allow individuals or entities to represent a prospective student-athlete for compensation to a school for an athletic scholarship.

Apparently AU is also paying the NCAA too because the above statement is somewhat contradictory...it is a clear violation of NCAA rules, but instead they allow this:
Auburn University has limited the access Newton's father has to the athletics program

I say it's all BS  They violated rules or they didn't violate the rules, get on with it.
