Dumb question I duck hunt about 5 times a year and have more in years past
but when did you start having to tag ducks. I have never heard of this
I might lose a job or a woman, but i will never lose hunting.

Sounds like he just graduated, and is following the law to a T. Instead of getting a good relationship with honest hunters he is going to give everyone a bad impression of him. Granted we could use some harder wardens, this may be a little much without giving a warning.

I would probably take it to court and try my luck there. If you had them separated and both of you were present you should be ok. Just my $.02.

Better hope you don't go before Judge Campbell...he is an animal right activist and hates duck hunters. He prepared to bend over and take it like a women. :o :o

james farms.. i was standing at the boat ramp when you pulled up and unloaded your argo to go scout.. i was talking with the other warder.. the older guy.. i remember you telling me that ya'll had a slow hunt and the three of you had only kilt 5 woodies. hope you can work this out..

let me ask this..

so we're hunting.. lets say three of us.. and we pull up the boat ramp.. i have my game tote with my limit.. tadpole has his game tote with his limit and the jack has his game tote with his limit.. but we don't have any tags on the birds.. and we're in jacks boat... could jack get a ticket since all the birds are in his boat.. or does the seperation by means of game tote suffice?

Not to be a re-tard, but where are these "tags"? I've never seen one on a bird in MS in my life . . . .

Think you will be wasting your time. Probablly could get it reduced, but more than likely lesson learned. Thats similar to the way I learned the maintain field posession law.

My understanding if your strap has your info you would be ok. Big I'll get you some zip ties with your info on it fer christmas so you dont have to worry.

So I would need "what" on my tote to make it legit: name, address, phone number, or more?

No, federal gov.
Title 50: Wildlife and Fisheries
PART 20—MIGRATORY BIRD HUNTING
§ 20.36 Tagging requirement.
No person shall put or leave any migratory game birds at any place (other than at his personal abode), or in the custody of another person for picking, cleaning, processing, shipping, transportation, or storage (including temporary storage), or for the purpose of having taxidermy services performed, unless such birds have a tag attached, signed by the hunter, stating his address, the total number and species of birds, and the date such birds were killed. Migratory game birds being transported in any vehicle as the personal baggage of the possessor shall not be considered as being in storage or temporary storage.

"Migratory game birds being transported in any vehicle as the personal baggage of the possessor shall not be considered as being in storage or temporary storage."

Otherwise you'd have to tag'em as you shoot'em. Which is to say unless you're alone they need to be in separate baggage till they're grouped together; therefore then they need to be tagged. Never was the sharpest knife in the drawer but I'd say youse guys were still in compliance. As long as they are on separate strings they are still your baggage. They were still separate in the truck, correct? Gotta be some sanity in this!

What distance away from each other is the tagging process to be carried out? Group pictures are out now if more duck limits are in the picture than hunters. The closest guy standing by a truck or boat full of ducks is now the possessor unless their tagged....

Next...
"Fellas you 2 have got 8 mallards in your boat and I say one of you kilt 5 and the other one kilt 3."
The judge is gonna go with the CO when there's no way to contest anything... He has "integrity."

I thought there was a new policy in the Dept. put out by this Mo. Regime; they are not "offenders" anymore they are "customers". Guess the new guy missed that day....

Two years ago three of us came out with three limits, they weren't separated. Two feds stopped us on the road and proceeded to count ducks. We had an extra drake, dont know how it happened, just miscounted I guess. Everything else was legit, shells, plugs, stamps, license. I volunteered to take the ticket for the extra duck cause they were hunting with me on my place. Fed said "dont worry about it, it'll be the minimum fine, you'll get the bill in the mail around the first of April". They were pretty cool about it. He also said that we should have our ducks separated and tagged but didn't write us for that because I think he knew we were trying to fly right. April 1st- ticket arrives, $525 for one drake. Lesson learned, count, recount and recount again.
