Z71 or F150?
Thinking about trading or selling my GMC duramax and really don't need a 3/4 ton anymore. Don't really won't to get in a Ford vs Chevy p**n match but just wanting some honest opinions. I haven't owned a Ford since my 74 Bronco but kinda like the looks of the F150 crew cabs. Thanks.

What you thought about asking for your duramax??
Re: Z71 or F150?
New or used? One thing to consider is that for 2011, all the engines for F150s are completely new designs. Their specs look fantastic, but they are unproven. One of the top-of-the-line engines is actually a twin turbo v6.
I got a 2010 Z71 ext cab in May. It gets close to 20mpg on the highway (even better on the 2-lanes) and I got an insane price. I am happy with it. I looked at the F150s (FX4) too, but price and mpgs made my mind up. With the new Ford engines, I'd take a longer look at the F150s now, although they will likely be asking a premium for a few months due to the demand for the new engines.

Ford didn't have to take a bailout from the government to stay afloat--there's a reason for that--superior top management, design engineers and quality control. Ford all the way. Have 2 f250's.

Re: Z71 or F150?
My brother in law just traded his Z71 in for a 2010 ford got a real good deal on the 2010. They have all kinds of rebates and what nots right now. Trying to make room for the 11's

I am a chevy/GMC man myself and have been for many years but my next truck will be an F-150. They don't ride like a GM product but they are tough as heck and that's what all the farmers in the Delta are going to so that should tell you something about durability. Lots of people buying fords that were always Z71 people. They tow better but the gas mileage in them sucks.

Chevrolet. everyone I know with an f-150 has something wrong with it. Nothing big, just always something wrong
Not to mention the gas mileage sucks in the fords.
Chevy also has limited slip for the rear wheels which I like

200K on my last F150, Katrina ate it. I have 190K on my present F150, still rocking along. My only Chevy had tranny problems all the time. No mas.

Love my 07 F150 and not a single problem so far (60,000 miles). Always been a Ford guy though...

Re: Z71 or F150?
Just traded in a 2001 F150 with 160k miles and only expected issues for a 2010 F150 crew cab. Owned a Chevy before that and replaced 2 trannys and 2 rear ends. Sure Chevy gets better mpg, but they had to put a 3.06 rear end in them to get it, even with the active fuel management thing. F150s with a 5.4 motor come with a 3.55 rear end, 4.6 3valve motor comes with 3.73 rear end. The limited rear slip can be turned on and off with a button. Not saying a Chevy won't tow anything, but Fords gearing makes it a stronger tower, which may be important to you since you're getting out of a 3/4 ton.

Well just got back from driving a '10 F150 crewcab and must say I was pretty impressed. Doesn't drive anything like my 74 Bronco. We'll see how bad they want to sell it Monday morning.

Get a Z. You know you want to.
Good gas mileage, reliable, proven.

Mine even has an orange engine light just to remind me it's running great. Mine's been on for the last 60K, still running like a mule.
