North Delta
Flooded rice
4 hunters
3 Greenheads
6:00 to 11:00
Saw many high fliers but they did not want to work
The very few ducks that did want to work came in beautifully
Watched 5-10 thousand snow geese play around in the field in front of us
Enjoyable day.

North MS....beautiful morning. Got some huge groups to work the dekes and drop the landing gear. Best opening morning in years.
However, our assaults on the greenies and woodies sure give away the location of our favorite spot. Too bad they don't made a shotgun silencer.
Time to scout and find another back up plan B, C, and D...cause it'll be a battle royal, cage match, coal miners glove, hair vs. hair, best 2 out of 3 falls, loser leave town bout next time getting there first...somebody call Eddie Marlin (for you young guys--he was Memphis rasslin promoter in the 70's)
We were real lucky today...would have still been digging it if we only bagged a couple...I didn't shoot as well as I would have liked, but my partner batted clean up pretty well whenever I killed feathers vs. duck.
Topped it off with victory, triple bypass breakfast slam at Huddle House. That place ought to have a sign in the window: free angioplasty with every third meal.

uh, lets see.....
1. My #1 blind was under 8 feet of water, #2 was under 5 feet of water .
2. Nearly drove my 4 wheeler off into a 12 ft deep revene full of water at 0500 this am.
3. Fell as I was wading in the deep water this am, lost the wings to my robo duck.
4. Fog was on the lake until about 0830.
5. Didn't even get a shot off.
Yup! an opening day to remember! D#$N water!

Hey magnum check out the account of my first morning on a previous post of mine. You'll get a kick out of it.Itss too long to retype.
Opening Morning Report
Worst opening day I've ever had. Before the monsoon of last week, I had two holes with pit blinds, pumped up and holding lots of ducks. Then the monsoon came and my hunting prospects went into the tank. My group has five fields, each with a pit. Four of the five pits are underwater. One pit was in a field with thousands of ducks and geese but no way to hunt them due to the high water (a boat blind would have been perfect !)
So hunted the only dry pit in a field with no ducks. And, the perfect "bluebird" conditions did not help either. Bagged one majestic, Greater North American Shoveler just to keep the dog from biting me. He was not happy either. Decided to forget hunting Sunday and rest.
Hope everyone else had more success than I did !

East Miss - took 3 hrs to travel 1.5 miles. I have not seen fog so thick in all of my life! The river was full and very swift. Debris & logs all over the place.
The fog finally burnt off around 9:30 a.m. and no ducks were flying. Saw about 20-25 all morning and no big ducks in the bunch.
Got checked by a game warden and he said the mallards and big ducks were not in the area yet. I found out he was a State grad so he told me two great places to hunt in the future. I thought that was pretty nice of him.

OK opening. 4 hunters 12 ducks, one sunk Honda and two floating pits. But for as much water and getting to see a butt load of ducks it will get better.

Well it wasn't an openin' day for me, but we had 10 gray ducks and two pintail by 10 am, w/ two of us huntin' it was a good hunt. SOrry to hear you all don't have birds, must be just too scattered right now.

This is for "Chance"...be careful you are going to give away your age...you are talking about rasslin from my generation. I remember Rowdy Red Roberts, Herb Welch, and Sputnick Monroe quite well....thanks for the nostalgia....acorman
