Where is yo family from?
Where is yo family from?
I am curious about how many German-American folks are around here. My great great great grandfather Jacob Kealhofer came over from outside Hamburg, Germany and each generation moved a little farther south. My moms came over around the same time and were Hager's. I always hear about Asian-American, African-American, and so on. Lets see where ya'll came from.

All Scotch, Irish, and Welsh as far as I have been told and what I have found out tracing history. Tracked most back to the Carolina's during the 1700's or coming across the Atlantic as indentured servants in the late 1600's and early 1700's. They migrated down to south Georgia in the late 1700's and early 1800's.

I guess I am a heinz 57 but my last name (Lassabe) is (Cajun) French descent. Mom was a Hollingsworth which has English/Irish roots if I am not mistaken. I have been wanting to do a lookup for a while now. Lassabe/Cuevas, Hollingsworth/Ladnier. Wife is Norwiegan/German: Knutson/Schindler. My poor kids, LOL!

I'm all mixed up. My last name is Kiker so I've got the German on my dad's side. Also on his side is a little Irish (Phillips) and my great grandmother was a little full blooded Cherokee squaw. On my mom's side I have more German (Bizjak) and English (Watts).

Re: Where is yo family from?
100% German with family names Winkler/Duderstadt/Rudolf/Kraetchy all from Germany.. My maternial grandfather moved to Mexico from Germany in the 30's. He then moved a cotten gin from Mexico to South Texas down the street from my Grandmother's and that's how they met. And had the German accent until the day he died. He bought several pieces of land down there that we still own. Never met him, he died when my mom was about 13, but I wish I had.

LOL!!!! Have you been talking to my wife? She has a lot of Cherokee ancestory as well. That coupled with the fact that she was red headed when she was little (it later turned brown but you can still see some of the red in the sun) means I have my hands full with her as well.
