Track hoe?
Something else?

I agree with the above post--just one additional comment. Fill it full of water until the ground has time to settle. This will prevent it from popping out.

Good luck

Pit installment

I have put them in wet and dry with a backhoe. The key is not to dig too wide of a a hole. When you loosen up too much soil, it will likely pop-up again if not anchored properly. If you ever have one pop-up, move over and put it close by but not in the same hole, just avoid the hole next to it until it can be filled back in usually not till the following spring. On a beveled pit, large blocks of concrete can wedge it in nicely if you don't have any anchor legs.
