Here is link where you can order birds. The price of grown wild ducks is outrageous. You can get 15 baby flying mallards for $45, includes shipping. Anyone know if this is a good price or if there is a source in Mississippi or Louisiana?

sorry i didn't get by your house the other day, they had more crawfish for me to cook than i thought. I'll talk to a friend of mine today that used to get them in La. and let you know a price on them and where the place is.

hey chuckle we need to start a business selling ducks and eggs and stuff.... man those are sum purty crazy prices! i guess the tammie shoots are starting to get popular and sum folks are trying to get on the band wagon and sell the babies.i got the place to raise em! might be a money maker.....

Generally figger on bout 8 bucks a bird. Have paid a little more for small numbers, and a little less if got lucky, but 8 bucks a bird is bout average.

If you want to raise birds for the heck of it, go ahead. But dont think your gonna save any money, or defiently make any money, on any kind of small scale. Not only is food costs, and time counting against you, ducks have really high mortaility rates, they got funky ways of getting themselves killed (like getting posined on fireant mounds, or run over in the road, etc). travis

hey goose just kidding about the raising ducks thing barley got time to work my dog every day..... just blowing smoke. i would have to be old and nuting to do all day to do that anyway.... just a funny thought.

there a place just north of Baton Rouge that has them for $8 a bird that is 20 week old flyer. You can get doy old birds for $2.50. You can do a search on this site and find her # . She may give a break for volume orders.

Yelp, I put off supper for thinkin about those crawdads!

The guy who said ducks have a high mortality rate is 100% right. Out of my first batch of 12, I have zero left. And am lookin to start on my second batch.

With the first batch, they got on up to about a month old or so and those cute little critters absolutely loved water and my mom and dad had to have the stall back so I came up with the brilliant idea of building a larger cage and moving it down to the pond. Man, those ducks loved it. You shoulda seen em scooping up water and pouring it on their backs and digging for stuff under the water. I was thinking mann, Sharkey is gonna love picking up these cute boogers.

The first night, 7 disappeared. 4 the next. I then figured I ought to move ole "solo" back to the barn. he died of natural causes, I guess, a couple days ago.

I paid 3.50 per bird, plus cracked corn, plus wire and 2 hours of time for the cage, plus water and feed duty every day, about 3 times. Moral of story: $8.00 per grown bird sounds awesome! Can you give me directions or a tel. number?

This outfit on the internet mails the day old chicks to your PO address. They say the chicks live off the embryo nutrients for that long and they ship in some sort of special box.

Oh yeah, the cage was built of stiff dog wire with 1"-2" squares. i guess that would be rectangles. It held the ducks in it with no problems, or so I thought. It worked good at the barn and for the smaller cage they came in. I think probably 2 coons scared them into squeezing out of the cage, then caught 'em. Looked kinda like coon tracks at the edge of the pond. The cage was half in and half out of the pond. Found no feathers or anything. I'm thinking a snake couldn't have gotten out after feasting like that. Cage had no sign of being disturbed.

a guy in Agricola,Ms.(east ms almost in Al.)has some 3 week old flyiers for 3.25 each......I have his number at work if anyone wants it

D1 at three weeks old the birds will still be in down features and would not be able to fly. Does this guy have a fly pen oris he just raising young birds and selling them before they can fly. Do you have a number for him.? By the way how's that choc doing?
