Gatlinburg
Gatlinburg
Gonna take a little get away with the wife and 2 boys the first of October, and wanted to know if anyone had any cabins for rent that were on this site, and what to do while there.
Re: Gatlinburg
Better start making reservations...October offers the changing of the leaves and the rod run, a busy month for the area...dont want ta be around the traffic during the rod run....trust me. Gatlinberg and Pigeon Forge have killa shopping and touristy type attractions. Take the ride over the hill to Cherokee....feed the bears, take in a Pow Wow and check out the snakes. Stop at some pull offs or check out Clingmans Dome for pix...the colors will be awsome usually around the 10th. LOTS of cabins can be found on tha net. Just had a ruben sammich at Puckers a coupla weeks ago...good stuff

Used to enjoy watching you ramble with that football. Hell of a ball player.

go to Cade's Cove early in the morning and look at all the wildlife. Its a beautiful place and we saw lots of bears, turkeys, and deer while we were there. We also did the dixie stampede which the kids will love. There is so much to do there for a family and you are going to love it.
Re: Gatlinburg
In pigeon forge, check out the bear jamboree and comedy barn for night time entertianment. The jamboree is dinner and a show, it has pretty good food. Comedy Barn has good music and of course comedy and plus you can get your wife on the stage to be made fun of.
if you decide to go you can buy both the tickets at jamboree place at a discount, otherwise it will cost 20-30 dollars more for all the tickets if you buy seperate on the nights you go. Also the jamboree place has a lot of brochures on what to do in pigeon forge and gatlinburg.
In gatlinburg, make sure you check out the Ripleys Aquarium but try to save it for a rainy day since its inside, also right across from the aquarium is the old gatlinburg mall, its 3 stories with some interesting shops. My favorite is the Gatlinbuiler smoke shop. That guy knows how to make some good pipe smoking tobaco, he has some maple tobacco that would make you want to put on stack of pancakes. Also there is a hot sauce store that makes for some pretty interesting bottle reading. Also the kids might get a kick out of it, but they have a water fountian that you can drop coins from the 3rd floor into so take alot of pennies.
When you get ready to check out the park, as your driving out of gatlinburg, turn right and stop at the ranger station. They sell maps for a dollar or two that gives you all the information about the different scenic sites and all, plus it tells you how far you got to walk. One good stop when headed up to cherokee is Chimney Tops even if you dont walk all the way to them, they have a couple of bridges that cross over a large section of the creek that makes for some good photos and is not very far from the road. also make sure you take drinks, food, TP, etc.. They dont have any of that once you go past the ranger station except a few rest areas in the pinic areas and they dont have vending machines either

Here is another realty company worth looking at. http://littleriverrealty.com/ Clean and nice cabins. The guy that runs it is from Jones County originally.
As far as evrything else the guys above said it all.
Cades Cove, Take bino's
If you decide to go to dolly wood check the dates they are open before going. They cut back on open days in Sept. I think
