Not to come to his defense at all, but it's simple math. It works out to losing 6 ducks every 5 days.

I quickly grew tired of the global warming thread though. This one has managed to keep me interested. I also believe this one reached 50 pages much quicker than the other one. I might be wrong. I am too lazy to go back and look  Oh well, another post propelling us towards history :D

So do y'all count these ducks every day or do you just subtract only the dead ones that are found? How do you know something isn't dragging multiples way off and eating them?

From the looks of his posts, they only subtract the ones they find, so I'm guessing his math is way off.

two separate occasions took close to 40 ducks in the first 2 or 3 weeks. i would have to go back through the pages to find out exactly. Owls got to them one night and dogs the next time. other than that, it has been one or two at a time.

all we can do is count the dead ones. there are most certainly more missing that we do not know about. when looking, it is rare to see more than a few hundred ducks at one time. the hired hand who does the feeding looks for the dead ones every day. it is important to get any dead animals (not just other ducks) away from the live ducks. the ducks are scattered over approximately 1 mile, sometimes more  .

From the looks of his posts, they only subtract the ones they find, so I'm guessing his math is way off.

you may be correct. however, early on when the ducks were much more vulnerable, the ducks were easier to track. as they scattered, their ability to evade predators increased. so while i most certainly believe there are dead ducks that were never found, i do not believe the numbers are large. when the ducks were delivered they were told that 85% survival rate was common. Survival is clearly higher than that #. probably above 95%. They were given 3,068 and paid for 3,000. 2% added to the numbers from the beginning by the ones delivering the ducks. only 4 ducks were lost in the transportation. 70 dead ducks found to date (including today).

That's to keep the Temic kill-train from killing your ducks too, right?

How can it be "clearly higher" when you have absolutely no idea how many ducks have been lost by your own admission?
