Shoot a shell you can afford that is best suited for what your hunting, that patterns best out of your gun.
Looking for 2 duck calls from Dominic Serio of Greenwood (ones for Novacaine)

Blackcloud 3' #3's or the new Rem hypersonic 3.5". I have used the blachclouds for the past two years. But I have patterned the Hypersonics and they work great out of my gun. Plus, the Hypersonic 3.5"s travel at 1700fps, which is close to the Blackcloud 3" #3's at 1635 fps. If I can get more pellets with the 3.5" Hypersonics traveling at similar speeds as the 3" with less pellets then I'm going to switch to the Hypersonics.
As for the Hevi-shot vs _____, I would still stick to Hypersonics or Blackcloud. I've shot the Hevi-shot, Rem HD, Tungsten, etc. and just don't see where the extra cost is contributing. Sure, you will get a bit extra range with the Hevi-shot, but, to me, not enough to justify the cost.

You can spend as much money on shells as you want. But if the bbs don't hit the bird it doesn't matter if it cost 2 bucks a shot or 2 cents a shot. I shoot Winchesters High Velocity because they are realatively inexpensive and they seem to patter well out of my gun.

I agree with cwink. I like Winchester HV. They decrease the load weight to get the 1550fps. I open my choke up a bit and shoot 3s or 4s instead of 2s to get more shot in the air. Works great for my hunting party.
