WHAT! Where is Jim Brown now? I'm going to drop by and see him next Friday if he's around.

Didn't realize that. Losing guys like Jim Brown and Clint Wood is really going to hurt that place as they were two of the best teachers in the business school.

Re: Where in Mississippi....
it saddens me to hear about DSU. It is just a matter of time though.
If it had to be MS and I had the money, I would be waking up on Lake Caroline in Madison.
I could not afford to pitch a tent there right now though

There will be a day....

you'd be surprised. you can get a very affordable 4 bedroom in there right now. Kicker is the school district it will be in could very well be Canton and not Madison

They dropped insurance and real estate. That was my major and there were a bunch of graduates each year. Supposedly they are just merging the insurance classes with another degree, Brown and Wood are still teaching the same classes, just no major. What sense that makes i have no idea, i think its a pretty widespread feeling that President Hilpert needs to take his ass back to north dakota.

Re: Where in Mississippi....
I like where I live right now (Yazoo City, MS) because it is what I am comfortable with...grew up there. While in school, I coop'ed in New Albany MS but lived in Tupelo and loved it. Now that I am married and have two kids, I still think that Tupelo/Pontotoc area would be a nice place to live. Besides, my wife is from Pontotoc so we already know people there and have some family there. We have been working to move up there but have not made the commitment. I will need to find a place to duck hunt once I get up there. I have several refuges and WMAs around yazoo.

Hilpert is worthless. They should have cut his salary to cover some of the deficit.

I can't believe that no one has mentioned west Grenada County. Good public school system, Grenada Lake, 15 minute drive to good delta duck hunting and no mosquitos.

Re: Where in Mississippi....
I agree with Crofford. Charleston. So long as North Delta is still open.
All the Delta towns are one industry away from going downhill fast. Charleston is no different. If Sayle Oil or the Diabetic Shoppe ever move we are screwed.
I would live anywhere in any rural area in the Delta. It's all about the culture, way of life, history etc...
Something that I have gotten into while traveling is stopping at each Delta Blues markers and taking a picture of them. It has allowed me to see more of the Delta than just 61 hwy. It also has given me a history lesson and taught me things I did not know about the area in which I live. No, as good as Montana, Idaho, Wyoming sound, I will always be in the Delta.

Re: Where in Mississippi....
10 yrs ago I might would have said the Delta for my own interest but now that I have kids NO WAY. My job has me traveling through the MS Delta, AR Delta and most of LA. The MS delta is the last place I want my kids to be raised. In all honestly I wouldn't mind Madison, Oxford, Olive Branch area. I want my kids to have opportunities and they just dont lye in the delta. We can drive up and hunt but as living there no thanks and I was practically raised in the south delta.

Gotta put a lot of miles on my truck because of it, but Memphis just never felt much like home. Of course, im about 5th generation so i may be a little biased, but it is a good town. Otherwise I would look at Oxford or Tupelo. Being an hour from Pickwick would be nice.
Cleveland will always be solid as long as the leadership is. Thats the only reason it has held its own all these years.
Re: Where in Mississippi....
Oxford and Madison are two very cool and nice TOWNS, but the COMMUNITY is where my only problem lies. I am not hating on them for having nice stuff or even pricing the reggins out of town, seems like thats the only non military tactic that works. Nikkas cant run down what they cant afford. BUT with anything or anyplace that you whore out with money comes the rich little pricks that most of complain about here on this site. They throw money at anything and everything and have their noses so high in the air theyll drown in a rain storm before lowering themselves. Not saying everyone in these two towns are like this, and prob most people on this site from there arnt but i am sure some are. I grew up in brandon, its not the nicest place on earth but its a great place to grow up. Kids here drive used trucks and even old trucks where as in madison I knew kids that got picked on for having a used truck that I'd kill for in High School.
I guess Im saying its harder on your family when everything is a money competition especially if your not loaded. And I would rather my kid grow up with some humility and respect, than having everything handed to him or being picked on for not having it.

I would look hard at Oxford (outside the limits) or Tupelo/New Albany/Pontotoc. I never like Hattiesburg. As much as I love the coast, we are 10 years from digging out of Katrina/economic slump/insurance rape.
I find myself wishing one of those storms would hit Boston or New York. Then I bet some damn insurance reform happens PDQ when the yankee homebase has to hack up a 200% increase.
