Every deer I have ever killed with a bow except one with a spitfire has been with a muzzy, 4 blade and mx3's. One of those muzzys I killed 2 back to back without sharpening the blades. The only one that had bent blades came out of a big doe I shot in the spine straight down and she rolled over on it. She bled out in 5 seconds. 2 of the deer dropped in their tracks with muzzys. I've never shot a deer with a muzzy and not found it. Several of my friends have shot deer with G5 montecs and not found the deer, but that also contains variables other than the broadhead used. Muzzys have always done well for me and I'm sticking with them for now.

I got one that has killed 3 deer and about to do another season

My brother has shot 6 with the same arrow and broadhead and it's still decently sharp although I've been telling him to replace it. He's only had 2 arrows for the past 2 years and refuses to buy any more. But why worry with it when you can kill them all with 1?

Shot quartering away with a spitfire. The arrow deflected on contact and went behind the skin into the front leg knuckle joint and when the deer pushed off the arrow came right back out. I had the same thing happen with a doe a week later. I had a lot of success with this head, but I am through with them after this.

Just my opinion, but you missed...it was indian not arrow...you cut the angle too tight, hence the richochet...

Bottomline is as many tournaments as I shoot I can't have a different set-up for broadheads and field points...Muzzy's are good heads, but too hard to tune.

I've shot a lot of critters with a Tekan and lost 1...90% at least are pass throughs. I would rather hit a pinpoint mark with a butterknife than loose accuracy for sharpness...

Rages are demolished after one time through the rib cage...so god forbid you hit the shoulder.

I worked as a bowtech through highschool and college and still do a lot of work on the side...I used to keep a drawer full of demolished rage heads that people would bring in so I could say "told you so"

If you shoot a deer anywhere near the vitals with a tekan II and don't kill it...I will personally kiss your @$$. Becuase my experience has been awesome with em.

Also important to note that somebody that doesn't have a properly tuned bow could shoot anything and your chances are severly decreased...at the very least paper tuned...

It's not a fair assesment on the broadhead to have some guy bring a whitetail 2 in to my shop that's shooting around corners. Than loose a deer and bitch because the g5 broadhead I reccomended didn't kill the deer.

Stick with the muzzy it is alot better broadhead!

I appreciate your opinion and expertise and can see where you would think the angle might have been to sharp, but it wasn't....the blade of the head could have hit a rib on a slight quartering shot and the same thing happened. To get to the point of the post and not hi-jack the thread, this was a spitfire which has become pretty well known in the last few years for this same sort of thing. I din't even know it because I have killed a lot of deer with them and not had any problems until last year and it happened two times in a row. The Rage would not have glanced with the way that the blade deployment works and the deer would have probably been dead, but there isn't any way that I would take a chance on shooting a deer from the Ms River bottoms to Illinois and the midwest with a rage and possibly get into the shoulder.....especially with the light arrow weight and broadhead setups most people are shooting to get speed these days. My setup is a 28-1/2" 2413 Easton with a 100 grain head out of a hoyt ultratec and this setup is shooting about 265fps. It is very well tuned and impressive to see how well it shoots through paper with the big aluminum's as well. I am not a bow mechanic myself, but I have a friend that I would put up against anybody. I have never had much trouble with tuning muzzy heads or any other non - mechanical as far as that goes. Most people that have that trouble are shooting the lightest carbon shaft that they can because they think that 330fps will kill a deer deader that 265fps. Speed is great, but not at the cost of quietness and tunability. With that being said I think I am about to buy a New Breed bow that will allow me to sling my 2413 at 280fps, but I will keep the Hoyt just in case

I know Jason at New Breed well...he's done a good job with his bows...

As for the broadheads...not trying to argue with anyone, just give my opinion. Good luck and happy shooting...

Good deal....I don't know anybody at New Breed personally, but my buddy that works on bows is selling them now and doing some of their limb and riser coatings, so I think I am going to try one out. It is a smooth draw and shot from what I can tell so far.

Good luck in your shooting and hunting as well.....hopefully I can tell you how the Muzzy's do on caribou by the first of October

RAGE SUCK, i shot 2 does this past year wit rage and found no blood on either 1 and and i know 1 of them is still alive cause i've seen her since.

If it aint broke dont fix it..... them suckers cost me on of my best to date... if I would had that muzzy on I would have had him in my hands.... slight quarter to me, pin on shoulder, whack.... retrieve head point is bent with a little hair on it laying flat on the ground where the deer was standing.... killed 10 pt same year head broke off in his shoulder, doe same year 20 yards perfect in the ribs no exit found her next day with no blood trail... Back to muzzy... thought I would try em again last year shot one into a block target pulled it out blades bent to hell and back.... I'll never shoot em again. I'd rather try my luck with throwing an axe through em

Not gonna say I love them, but I have killed around a dozen deer with rage and had no problems or a deer run further than 45-50 yards. I have had great success with G5 Montec, and my personal fav are the slick tricks. I personally understand and agree that broadheads will malfunction and or break but I do believe shot placement is the main key. Just my .02 cents as I think everyone on here has very valuable theorys and experience.
