2 Big Thumbs Up to Costa Del Mar

Postby lipsplitter39654 » Tue Aug 10, 2010 12:20 pm

I have had the best customer service over the years with Costa and that is the reason I will continue to pay the premium prices for their glasses but my most recent experience is worth sharing. A couple years back I had a pair with 400 lenses that i dropped and shattered one of the lenses. I sent them back and they called me after only a few days and said we can repair them for $50 or replace with a new pair for $80. They were $160 new so I thought this was more than fair and was very well pleased and had them send me a new pair. Well a few weeks ago I snapped my 580 Harpoons in half right down the middle of the nose piece. Totally screwed and not repairable. I did the return to Costa and received frequent emails but never a call. Well today I go to the mailbox and inside I find my glasses. Brand new frames with my old lenses in them but they cleaned the lenses so good that they look like new. Now I paid $270 with tax I believe for these and all they charged me was a $11.95 processing fee and said the repair was under warranty. It was my fault they broke not theirs. They went above and beyond for great customer service and I wont hesitate to spend my money with them in the future.

+1. i had a similar experience. dropped mine, cracked the lense, sent it in and they sent me a brand new pair for about $100 compared to +/-$280. the pair they sent me had the defective lenses that lost tint and they replaced them for free. they have excellent customer service no doubt.

a few years ago i sat on a pair and broke off both arms. i sent them back to have the lenses put in a new frame, but they had quit making that style. they sent me a pair of the new style that replaced the ones i broke and did not charge me a thing. i was shocked to say the least. i will continue to do business with them.

Call me cheap, but I just couldn't spend 200+ for sunglasses and still sleep at night! I know Costa customers are adamant they are worth it and they may be. I'm just saying I will continue to buy my $18 polarized Foster Grants and buy a new pair every 6 months when I lose them or drop them. I'd be a nervous wreck trying to keep up with glasses that expensive. I'm just a cheap ole redneck!

sent a pair back a couple years back for a broken ear piece and they asked me if i wanted to replace for $75 or repair for $40, so natrually i went with the replace since they were already a couple years old. I thought it was great customer service but on the flip side felt a little sick about the fact that they can do that and still make money.....probably only got $12 in a $150 pair of glasses.

Never the less, I've had 3 pair over the last 10 years and will continue to wear them.

Well, I was about to buy a new pair but I think I will just step on these and send them in.

I have Rx Costas. Had mine 6 years and it's time for a new pair (probably past time as my eyes have changed).

A fella just about needs 2 pair. My fathoms have the 580 lens but there fading around the edges, but I just dont think I can live without them for 2 to 3 weeks. Heck I know I cant, I have photo phobia, which basically means I have to wear good glasses while outside. Imagine standing in a room full of cut onions...Yeah thats how my eyes get while outside without my costas.

I have two pairs one is Harpoons wit 580 lenses, I have yet to have an issue with, on the other hand I have a pair that I do not recall the name but are Costas. I have broken this pair 4 times once on purpose because the lenses were so scratched I couldn't see out of them. Everytime I have sent this pair back for repair they sent a brand new pair in the box back to me.
Damn, i thought I had that one

Is that buddy of yours tryin to blow that call or make love to it?

sent in a pair of frigates a couple of years ago for repair, right arm broke at the pivot and the rubber nose piece was coming off, paid the 11.95 and was returned what i thought was a new set of glasses but it was my lens inside a new frame, like someone said above they polished the lens back up and they looked awesome again, felt naked without them for two weeks, had constant email updates throughout the process, definitely the brand i buy from now on, now if we could just get them to make the glasses floatable in case they fall off in the water

Thats easy...get you a set of cablez(wire neck strap) and put an unweighted poppin cork on it and super glue the slit where the line goes. Do it to mine all the time.

When you pay $200+ for a pair of glasses, you make it a point not to lose them or damage them. I know where my glasses are at all times, either on my face, around my neck, hanging from my rear view, or on my kitchen table. Plus i have the peace of mind knowing that if something does happen to them, Costa will take care of them. I don't plan on ever buying another pair unless (heaven forbid) i lose them. I've had mine going on 6 or so years now.
