I've been taking a bath in the dog's flea and tick killer soap when I get home from camp.
I haven't itched in a while so it may be working. I always ask my wife if my coat is nice and shiny after I bathe with it.

Rubbing alcohol always works for me.

And an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of chigger cure: tall rubber boots with pants tucked in, shirt tucked in, and deet sparyed around the access areas.

Sunday I was out hanging stands and trail cams, but wasn't in any serious weeds or tall grass. Thought to myself nah no need for tall boots, just wear the pants and some comfy muck shoes... NEVER AGAIN! I even jumped directly into the pool after coming out of the woods and scrubbed down, but apparently the 5 hours in the wood was plenty long enough for them sucker to bite down.

three11 wrote:This sounds crazy, but it works!!! Drink about 6-8 ounces of your own urine and the pain and itching will go away almost instantly. The enzymes in it react with the toxins left by the chiggers and neutralize it, leaving you pain and itch free within minutes!!! This really works, and I know several members of this board that have tried it and had it work for them!! Try it and see for yourself!!

In reality a simple shot-glass full should do the trick. No need for more than a couple of ounces.

I have been wearing light weight breathable waders all summer. Trying to make a whole southern training season with out the plague of these little bastards.
Going to wear them at the next 2 HT's i am in also. I can stand the heat for alittle while but the chiggers stay for several days.
Only got 2 more weeks to go before I head to Canada and then I'll be home free.

i used to do the clorox bath and it worked well, but like Ramsey said an oz of prevention .....so i not needed it in years

best prevention i have found for chiggers and ticks is to spray clothes with permethrin(lasts through several cloths washes), can get the 10% (i think is what it is) concentration at most any farm store for 8 bucks or less(the little bottle will last long time), i mix mine in a generic squirt bottle its recommended not to get it on your skin, but having spent several years cruising timber/timber consulting throughout the worst times of the summer, i have not had a case of the chiggers since i started using it in the late 90's, and only a coupla ticks made it through in all that time.

i will add this, it don't do nothing for skeeters

The best thing about Chiggers is that it feels so good to scratch them!!!!!
