I talked to SAFE which is the battered women's shelter here in Tupelo. They are getting some info together for me and we are also getting her an appointment with one of their counselors.

I tried to talk to law enforcement today and that is a no go. They wouldn't even talk to me and said she would have to call. So much for Tupelo PD.

Document who you talked to, date, and time. Get her to call and see what they say. It is heresay even with photos until they hear it from her since she is over 18.

Would it be too crazy to ask to put his name on the board. If your daughter doesn't press charges, somebody else's daughter could be his victim. I'm not a lawyer and don't want to get you in a slander lawsuit. Just though I'd ask. As a father of two daughters myself (16 months and 3 yrs), please follow this through. Ask you daughter to press charges if not for herself for his next victim(s).

Sad she feels that way. Her being 19 will frustrate you to death cause you can't make her do anything. Victims of abuse usually always make excuses for the abuser. It starts off small then usually excalates into much more. The abuser blames the victim and in time the victim beleives he ir she is at fault. Sadly the victims even if they get out seem to gravatate to people like that for some rason. I can't count the number of times I have seen numerous repeat "falls"!!! Makes you sick when they tell you sometimes you just have to let em get away with it, and he didn't mean it, I pushed him to do it, it was my fault, he's a good man when he isn't drinking etc etc. Once a beater always a beater!!! Problem is now she probably won't tell you and god forbid she marry him...........you will always wonder what is going on behind closed doors. Please at least file a report so you have some documentation. Or if she won't...file police report yourself and get a restraining order.

Google "Battered Women's Syndrome". That is a classic response that is given. We have learned this isn't the first time and are asking the same questions. WTF????!!!!!!! My wife and I are way out of our league here and the best we can do is get her to the professionals who know. She's agreed to that so I'll take whatever victories I can get right now.

.........getting her to the professionals is a great answer right now...if she will go , she will learn how wrong this guy is...also whatever has happenened that allowed this to go on needs to be fixed..so she can go on with her life and NOT meet a New A$$hle that hit her also..ie. allow it to happen again..prayers for ya'll
