When to plant???

When is the best time to start planting rice and japanese millet? How much of each do I need to cover 9 acres? Thanks,

How are you planting, broadcast or drill? Rice planting season is beginning, but you may want to wait about 2 or 3 weeks if you are leaving it for waterfowl. Broadcast rate is usually about 1.5 to 2 bushels or 67.5 to 90 lbs. per acre, but more is better if you don't have a well prepared seed bed. Just watch your fertility and lodging on susceptible varieties. Millet depends on planting method, irrigation practice, and row spacing. More is better if you have good fertility and irrigation. You probably want both to mature just before frost if you are not planning on combining. Are you mixing these together or planting seperate? Are you going to irrigate either? This will help us help you.
